for pugs definitely. For groups of peeps who play together and know the content, not at all. The farther you get away from the perfect party the better tactics and gear need to be for sure. But dont necessarily need huge dps or incredible healers for any of it. Of course they help.

If the op has a subpar build, but is a solid player, there shouldnt be a problem getting into groups and contributing. I cant say if this is the case or not, but I know there are several epics that can be done with no "healer ie: mostly cleric or fvs" and with non axer builds....

Quests besides Epic that I want to do:

Prey on the Hunter (elite) (and would also like to kill dragons)
    Stealer of Souls (hard/elite)
    Ascension Chamber (hard/elite)
    In the Demon's Den (elite)
    I Dream of Jeets (hard/elite)
    Eye of the Titan (hard/elite)
    Reclaiming Memories (elite)
    Mining the Ancient Secrets (elite)
Sins of Attrition (hard/elite)(actually I want to mine this one till I get the belt I want. )
    Genesis Point (hard/elite)
    Bastion of Power (hard/elite)
    A new Invasion (hard/elite)
    The Dreaming Dark (hard/elite)
Tower of Despair (hard/elite) (although I still need boots before I feel worthy to do more than normal.)

Actually it's a short list compared to all the quests in the game. I've done everything on normal, but those are the ones I still need on hard and/or elite. (I'm such a favor hound. )
And prefer doing any optionals on most of them....just because.

Talon I'll run with you anytime Im on and free. Send me a tell...any toon named Death in Pestilence is me.

I've only really been doing Von 1, 2 and 6 on epic so far since I came back last month, so I can't really lead Epic runs well yet. But I also don't have any problem trying something and failing a few times to explore (many times I actually find that more fun than being led through by the nose and swinging when instructed).

So if you get a group going of those that want to try Epic, don't care which quest, and don't mind exploring and failing a few times for the thrill of something new, Im all in.

Epic raids are, by and large a gear/hp/sp check. Discipline is everything. If you don't have end game items and 400+hps it is hard to survive. The damage is persistent and heavy. Mistakes by healers almost always lead to death. There are very few freebie spots, and once you show yourself to be a freebie seeker, there is no chance you will be invited back. This isn't directed at you Talon.

For example, we finished a DQ2 raid only minutes ago. We invited a pug cleric who was killed by the first round of blade barriers. Once the death penalty hits, his buffs were gone and even after raising him he died twice more and we just left him dead and finished the raid because at that point he was a distraction. Our healers drank 7 mana pots - about the total mana points of the pugger. In our estimation, we would have been better off without him, he cost us plenty and contributed nothing. It is nothing against him, its just a fact.

The reason I'm bringing this up is to illustrate that the people who run these raids are not looking to take chances. They are trying to eliminate vectors for failure. If your toon isn't geared out with all the hp/sp then you are an unnecessary risk. There are plenty of exceptions, BUT you need to establish yourself as exceptional before you are going to get readily accepted into guild runs that beat the raid every time. We beat it every time because we are conservative and use discretion when assembling the party. When we don't, bad things tend to happen. Velah and Lailath are unforgiving, Lailath especially as there is no place to hide.

Cheers and best of luck to you.

    Did Von 6, 1, 2, & 3 Epic today. Great fun.

Also 4 manned Jeets on hard. So I'd say a productive day at work.

Special thanks to the Legion guys who were running VON 6. As always you guys make things look easy.

Legion as a whole are extremely good players IMO. You guys are definately an elite guild. I would use the word hardcore.

I am no where near your guys' ability. And I don't think I ever will be.
But I also don't enjoy your playstyle either. It's too fast, too...cold for lack of a better word. And I do feel like I'm piking along in a raid with a bunch of legion guys.

I don't enjoy that. It's not what I'm about. So I actually avoid a lot of Legion LFMs.

The group I was in today was a PUG group led by a few Legion guys. And I didn't realise it before I joined. (not sure if the leader was actually in Legion, but a couple Legion guys seemed to be calling the shots and setting the pace.)

Anyway, I know any group with a couple Legion guys has a great chance to succeed. And I have run with many of you over the years, and have reaped the benefits.

But I never intended to be carried along. That's not what I enjoy, and it is why I avoid legion raids.

But I also know I'm good enough to succeed in anything I've been exposed to yet.

The VON 1,2, & 3 group I was in today, was a lot of fun. I definately contributed. I didn't have the high kill count, or even close, but I didn't feel gimped in that group at all. The mage had the highest kills of course. We had a TRed Mnk that was really good. But we also had a Rgr who could not stay alive!
We struggled, in VON 3 especially. But wow was it fun!
And my build did just fine.
My experience and preparedness with resources did even better.

Anyway, I know you guys don't consider me a freebie seeker. And I know many of you know I can follow directions and will not screw things up.
In fact, you guys seem to accept me whenever you are not looking for a specific spot to be filled. Granted that was mostly before Epic. (and FtP)

I actually haven't noticed Legion being real selective about who they let in. Sometimes maybe, but a lot of you guys just seem to be confident enough that you can finish without worrying too much about who joins.

I've been in VoD and Hound with you guys, back when they were the toughest raids in the game. I've been in the Abbot with legion before even you guys expected to finish. (we didn't, but that's not my point.)

Maybe you guys are more selective now with all the new players, but before you seemed to only exclude people with a bad reputation, and just made sure you had the right party make-up for success.

The only idiot player that they let play in their groups is me...cuz I'm funny...

They just think it's funny that you still think Tempest Spine is a real raid.

You did great in there Talon, but instead of chugging heal pots, swing your blades You must trust the healers in epic raids.

Thx Aycare. And thx again for having me along.

It is real hard for me to totally trust a healer to keep me alive in a raid like that. I PUG all the time, and just like everyone says, I know my build is not really what is needed for some raids. <400 HP.
And honestly when I realised you Legion guys were there, I was scared to be the first to die! lol Trying to make the best impression I could. (and you weren't supposed to notice the pot drinking in the thick of battle there. )

I'll keep working on some gear changes to make me beefier for raids like that. I think I can fit in a Greater False Life item for VON 6, without sacrificing anything important there. That will shoot me over 400 HP.

Thx for keeping me up, and thx again for havng me along. It was fun.
