RE: Leader responsibility. I will clarify- only to invite people that have flagged themselves as looking for games. Just I have been in groups where the leader hasn't checked this . What does everyone think? RESPONSE: I have joined groups this way and I have had people join mine this way, and not just those listed as looking for a group. If not interested, it takes a simple 'nty' response. I don't see a problem with it.

After reading pretty much the whole thread, I sadly have to admit that I'm really glad I became somehow reluctant to run with pick-up groups.

Used to be different, some time ago, and in some other games. People were adult-minded indeed.

But these days you either come across a...
...bunch of jerks who expect you to know absolutely everything, have no patience and will blacklist you should you have a notch less knowledge about the game than what devs do, or...
...a bunch of surprisingly colorful individuals that don't seem to be aware of the fact they're terrible players, despite their high level characters, that not only make you wonder how they got there, but also will listen to no directions whatsoever, advice nor indication of any sort, effectively expecting you to cope and even it would seem, enjoy, their uselessness.
Best example that comes to mind is this guy the other day, high lvl favored soul, that chose to wait till midway through the quest to let us know that "he don't do heals (sic)". Oh he did resurrect people, just didn't heal them. Awesome, we were all so happy. If only that bit of info would've come an tad earlier...

Anyway, the code of conduct the OP comes up with is completely reasonable. And even when you can argue about a point or two, it's still acceptable as a list, and extremely advisable as a concept. Prob is, just like somebody said earlier, people don't read the forums. Or care.

Also don't forget the game is still bugged all over the place, and is rid with confusing descriptions. Thus, it's obvious by now that the more descriptive and communicative you can be, the way, way better the experience will end up being.

    Alright, back to work.

    Cheers

Yes, sadly even common courtesy between people is sometimes absent in a party. The idea is to have fun and for everyone to work together. Be patient with players new to the quest (if you don't want newbs, advertise KTQ) and just don't be a jerk.

So, make me wait for an hour as you wait to fill that last crucial, critical spot, huh? I'm pretty sure that running into a dungeon and being able to succeed without a full party has been covered many times on this board.

How about - Don't enter the quest until everyone is READY, so noone gets a late entry timer, or starts a timer clock, instead?

It's considered poor form. My guild has a long standing tradition of waiting for everyone to be around the chest before opening. The loot is still going to be there, but it means a little more when we do it as a team.

    Just my 2cp.

Yeah, that was my thinking about waiting for leader to open chest, but a lot of people have commented that it is not really necessary. So while I still think it is nice, it is not really needed for this basic set. It's more important that newbs dont rush ahead to open chests when they don't know what will happen, and that greedy players don't open while the fightining is still on.

    Default Rolling

I have been asked to add something about rolling for loot, so perhaps...

    Rolling:

    - Certain loot items are 'bind to character' and exclusive, so if a player already has the item, or it is not suitable for their class, they may choose to give the item to someone else in the party.
    - Players are entitled to their own loot and further entitled to distribute it directly to whomever they so choose (e.g. a guild member or a friend)
    - If the player decides to make the item available to other players in the party, the player would ask those players to 'roll' for the item and award it to the player with the highest roll.
    - Players interested in rolling for an item need to type '/roll d100' into the party chat window, which will generate a random number between 1 and 100.
    - Do not greed roll. That is roll for an item that you don't need or can't use. The player putting up an item for roll may ignore any roll that he considers to be a greed roll (for example an item for a ranger, the player will probably only consider rolls from party members that are rangers and disregard rolls from other party members).
    - Should you win a roll, please do not forget to thank the player that gave the item to you.

No I will not state p2p....that is defined on your screen. Everything is available to me in game quest wise. I refuse to learn what is and is not p2p.

you screen tells you if you have to buy the quest...beyond that I don't care.

You assumption that we should know or care what isf2p and p2p is ridiculous.

    That's nice...adds names to list.

Go ahead blind invite all you want...send that tell to people who are not interested in joining a party...just barge right in.

/squelch is a wonderful tool....tool. And one day you will cap a toon...and and maybe just maybe you will learn that your doing it wrong.

Based on the quoted text he was sending tells not blind invites - nothing wrong with that IMO. People who dont want tells should be anonymous.

Joining a group and running a quest part way, only to leave when "guildies need me" is absolutely rude behavior and it is amazing to me how many people think it is OK if your friends "need" you.

You committed to the people you are running with -- they need you and your personal honor (assuming you have any) should tell you to honor your comittment. Your guildies need to wait -- THAT is the polite response.

Default Use party request "Decline" please!

And another annoying thing that I am getting...

Sometimes when responding to a LFM (advertizing for my level and class) I get no response. This seems to happen when the person posting the advert:

    1. Doesn't want to accept certain lvls/class
    2. Is keeping slots open for other people
    3. Has other reasons against accepting those applying
    4. Didn't see the request to join party notice

If the poster doesnt want to accept someone's request to join, then DECLINE! Don't leave the person hanging around waiting and wondering.

1 & 2; poster should setup and word their LFM properly to avoid this in the first place
3; would be polite to reply to applicant with why they are being declined
4; after 1 minute or so I request to join again, and if I hear nothing I assume I am being brushed off

This bug other people too? Suggestions on how to handle this?

There is a lot I disagree with in this thread, but this really stuck out so I dug up an old quote of mine to illustrate why. You think that is the "easy" answer?? well...

For those that want to know "UP FRONT" what every party member is doing with their loot (or judge entire guilds based on what one member does), here is a very typical story for you, of what a very typical Abbot that I would form up would look like.

Name <Guild>: opinion on raid loot
Ash <sabbat>: I'm going to ask in guild chat first, then offer to the others if no one in guild wants
Nem <sabbat>: I'm going to immediately offer to put it up for roll for everyone in group, even if its loot I should probably be taking for myself
Soh <sabbat>: I am going to pass it to a non-guildie that just happens to be my husband because, well, he is my husband
Cer <puppykickers>: I am going to loot everything I pull because this toon just got flagged and needs it all
Treak <sabbat>: I am going to give whatever I pull to Samadhi because he's not using his mic which means he's probably hungover and needs a pick-me-up and he did just hook me up with ninja'd loot earlier today
Chester <sabbat>: I'm going to loot this caster item on my monk because I didn't realize it was bound
Dread <sabbat>: I never pull raid loot except on 20ths so I don't need a policy; and I hate you chester
Docta <sabbat>: Litany goes to guildie casters first, then non-guildie casters, then non-caster guildies, then non-caster nonguildies. Ring goes to guildie melees first, then non-guildie melees, then guildie non-melees, then non-guildie melees. Embers goes to....
Divs <GRR>: I know pretty much everyone in group so I'm just going to put it up for roll; if there were more puggers around though I would spend an hour in a chat channel figuring out who to give it to
Lor <GRR>: I know pretty much everyone in group and even everyone's gear set ups so I'm just going to ninja it to whomever I think needs it most
RandomDude <no guild tag>: [completely unresponsive to voice and typed chat; no idea if he even understands what a puzzle assignment is, let alone have we been able to determine what he is going to do with loot]
Samadhi <sabbat>: So Litany I had a d2 rolled earlier to give it one of the two guildies on a caster/cleric. The ring is getting ninja'd right to Dread because he has horrible loot luck and I know he needs it. RandomDude looks like a ranger using a bow so I'll probably ninja him bow/quiver. Noxious Embers I will hold on to for a second to see if anyone pulls gloves and wants to trade; if not put up for roll for everyone. Gloves I loot. All other loot will be randomly ninja'd to whatever name pops up about 1/3 of the way down the list (i.e. will randomly be ninja'd to someone in the group with no concern with for whom / to whom) with such speed they will probably think they pulled it themselves.

So the moral of the story.... if you want to spend half your life discussing loot policies - I'm not here to judge you. Personally, though, I have better things to do. You know what the easiest and most democratic system is? Your loot, your decision, I'll keep grinding for 20ths and keeping my stress levels low in the meantime. Peace.

Nothing wrong with drawing attention to a guide that is still relevant and useful. Would love to have read this when I first joined. Going to drop a link for it into the New player advice forum.

Lorien - I interpret the above to mean players who have checked off the LFG tab in their social panel. It would be strange to be LFG then complain about someone sending you tells asking if you are interested in running a quest with them.

(Historical note: I still remember the original social panel where sending tells to LFG persons was actually a common way to recruit, rather than simply throwing up an LFM.)
