Question Sorrowdusk Isle - Uber Mephits?

This morning I was running Sorrowdusk Isle (on normal) with a party of 5 plus a healer hireling. From memory we had a couple 8's, a couple 7s and a 6. We did pretty good until the last quest where we need to rid the temple of mephits. Well, we wiped!

I've run this series a few times, but this is the first time since the last update, and I don't remember the mephits being so uber on previous runs? I can confidently say I was with stronger (higher level toons) parties previously, but I'm sure the mephits were nothing more than a nuisance.

Has anybody else noticed the mephits being stronger, or is it all down to party strength?

I ran this the other night with my brother and a few hirelings--granted, not the best setup, I know. But I've run this on other toons, both with a full party of real people, and with just one or two others and a hireling cleric. Ran through Greymoon with no problems, but we, too, encountered the uber mephits, and suffered a party wipe. Guess I'll just have to chalk it up to changes with the updates. Seems like the more I play, the more I realize that hirelings are fairly useless, up to a point, and it pays to group with people that know the quests. More and more quests that I've run through with no previous problems seem to be getting more difficult.

yes they are a bit harder, esp with dungeon scaling.

parties of 4 or fewer have it a bit easier.

and if i remember right it is a lvl 10 quest so 6's and 7' will stuggle a bit with the mephits.

They've always been a decent chanllenge. Especially the air ones with there unresistable piercing/disorientation breath.

Perhaps your previous runs just included a very strong member that took care of them for you.

Most of my underpowered runs thru that quest in groups I just set up shield blockers at door and nuke the mephits. Safest way.

Ya know, I always hate it when people respond with "are you sure its plugged in"... but

did you have the same resists/protects that you usually have?

That may have made the difference. But I'll have to check on those mephits, I miss the "foul miasma"

The fire mephits are definitely tougher than normal ones. First time through soloing normal with my monk I'd had no trouble at all and then BAM! Dead, 1 second too far away to make it to the shrine to res and take relevant resist pots.

However, the next time, with the appropriate handwraps on and a fire resist pot, they were no trouble at all. Its just a question of being prepared. I can't recall running into the Air ones. I'm not honestly sure how to deal with them when I get to them, haven't played the monk for a while and still have to finish the sorrowdusk chain.
