Please remove the pause from switching weapons and remove the quick draw feat.
I'm not sure if anyone actually wastes a feat slot on that and it detracts from the game.

Why should there NOT be a penalty for switching weapon sets? In real life, if you want to drop your knife and pull out a gun, can you do that instantaneously? No. Likewise in the game, if you want to switch to a weapon set that would be more advantageous to use, it only makes sense to have a time penalty to simulate the act of sheathing one set and pulling out another.
I love the "in real life" guys.
Always good for a chuckle.
PS: Greensteel RUINED the game! and you all know it!
less buffing, more nerfing!!!
to make it easier for those of you that wants to avoid me in game, all my characters are in "Bladesworn Mercenaries"
The so-called "pause" is barely noticable

I did not know it helped with the speed of throwing weapons. That would make it a legit feat...though I still think the weapon switching and action boost pauses should be done away with to make the game better. That's just my opinion.
I don't really see the need to take away pause in switching weapons, that kinda makes sense.
I do however feel that Action boost Rage and Frenzies should not have a pause. Why the hell does my barb have to stop and stare off into nothingness every time i frenzy. It is kinda lame. Not really any excuse for it. What does he actually do to trigger a frenzy anyway.? Stop and pinch his bum a few times. ????? If so i would like to see the animation for that.![]()
Hrm... so lets get rid of all the useful feats, and leave the real tough feat selection choices for melee builds between Power Critical and Weapon Focus: Shuriken?
I think in this case, its reasonable to spend a feat to get the switching/activation time reduced. Especially since the feat allegedly also reduces the time to cast from scrolls, and RoF on thrown weapons.
My daughter took this feat the other day but we timed it with another toon and could barely see any pause; did a featswap. Unless they increase said pause this feat is worthless for melees. Didn't test with ranged to melee.
Lots of people take quick draw for a feat. I'd never make a kensai fighter without it, the decrease in activation time for power surges and haste boosts are quite noticable,
I have seen 2 different threads where the min maxers ran people completely off the internet and back to telegraphing for not having this feat due to some presupposed "decrease in DPS" that occurs when you are not actively swinging a weapon. This is of course laughable.
As a side note, in paper and pencil DnD, drawing a weapon takes a move action until you have 1 bab, where you can then move and draw together as one action. Putting away a weapon takes a move action. So the order of operations would be - put away weapon (move action) move to target and draw weapon simultaneously (move action taken as a standard action) - done. No attacks that round. 6 seconds dedicated to gear swapping. Next players turn.
You are getting off easy in DDO. Keep griping about the pause times and they will be made longer. LOL
There are three major reasons why I can see the delay exists:
- To make Quick Draw a more useful feat.
- To keep things more in line with the book rules in that swap actions have a time conseqence.
- To prevent issues that were in DDO when no delay existed (back in early 2007), which led to problems such as "weapon swap haste", where folks would attack, swap a weapon, and be instantly able to attack again.
Then you gotta try harder.
QuickDraw is an awesome feat and I hate not having it on my two tempest fellas.
You want the pause removed get Quickdraw. Can't afford to get Quickdraw then deal with the pause.
It should be removed for action boosts and rages etc. That I can get behind, makes no sense.

The original reason the wepaon switch delay was added (yes it was added to the game, it was not here at release) was to fix a now obsolete exploit.
The fact quickdraw does what it does is also an unintended kludge.
So this would qualiify almost as a bugfix, rather then a nerf in anyway.
Quickdraw doesn't need to be removed..
Just needs an upgrade/description update:
Have it let you toss throwing weapons faster, and switch armor instantly like you can with robes and docents.
