Default remove the pause from switching weapons and remove the quick draw feat

Please remove the pause from switching weapons and remove the quick draw feat.
I'm not sure if anyone actually wastes a feat slot on that and it detracts from the game.

Why should there NOT be a penalty for switching weapon sets? In real life, if you want to drop your knife and pull out a gun, can you do that instantaneously? No. Likewise in the game, if you want to switch to a weapon set that would be more advantageous to use, it only makes sense to have a time penalty to simulate the act of sheathing one set and pulling out another.

I love the "in real life" guys.

    Always good for a chuckle.

What's wrong with wanting to base some aspects of a game in reality?

The so-called "pause" is barely noticable

If anything the pause should be longer. At least 3 full seconds without the feat.

D&D created rules to mimic real-life actions and experiences.

The original reason the wepaon switch delay was added (yes it was added to the game, it was not here at release) was to fix a now obsolete exploit.

The fact quickdraw does what it does is also an unintended kludge.

So this would qualiify almost as a bugfix, rather then a nerf in anyway.

Quickdraw doesn't need to be removed..
    Just needs an upgrade/description update:

Have it let you toss throwing weapons faster, and switch armor instantly like you can with robes and docents.

Spaz attack would still be an exploit if the pause was removed.

I agree,,, the pause was placed to prevent the exploit on the weapon click while speed swinging...

Shade's proposal for the quickdraw feat merrit my thoughts as well.

But this is DDO, not D&D.

    It's a pretty hefty difference.

we don't drop our knife in ddo, we put it into another dimension to withdraw another set of weapons from the said dimension
but yah, the pause should be there
besides, quickdraw adds the throwing speed for my darts! >=3

I sort of agree. Its rarely worth using a ranged weapon as a melee because after you shoot it takes so long to switch back to melee weapons and to start swinging again.

But there should be a penalty for switching weapons and there should be a use for that feat.

It's been a while, but i am pretty sure they added the "delya" in to stop people from doing something in particular. No need to get into details other then to say that it probably won't be removed.

quickdraw also makes your attacks restart sooner after using an action boost, so it's really not a waste.

This is in scope ... it behaves somewhat as the quicken feat on an arcane. The real question is why the dev's poised this slowdown in activation to begin with? Obviously when a caster haste or resist you you do not slow down - they do to cast the spell, to siluate the somatic, and motions they must go thru, casting a spell requires a physical nature... question be shall a haste boost enhancement, power surge, divine might or even rage slow your actions? Personally I feel not, I am sure they could toss that little animation over your head while you're still swinging away... I do not remember if it occurs while am running into frey but if it is the speed reduction for it should also be removed. I view divine might, power surge and rage and boosts as being a state of mind not physically slowing in any way ... swing a hammer while whistling a tune, think while and walking and chewing gum ... well most of use anyway, makes no sense.

Every time my character instantly changes into a robe, I can't help but think he was wearing it underneath the armor from the beginning and that he tore off his armor ala magic show-style.
