    Default help me decide

I currently have a level 11/1 fighter/barbarian that i enjoy very much. I am about to hit lvl 12 fighter and I am looking forward to Kensai II and Power Surge! My question is should I finish out the toon as...
18 Fighter/2 Barbarian - mainly for Kensai III which gets me the extra +1 on the crit range
12 Fighter/8 Barbarian - the extended/extra rages stacked with Power Surge and additional PA enhancements are very tempting with this combo
12 Fighter/6 Barbarian/2 Rogue - still get some nice extended/extra rages to stack with Power Surge and get sneak attack and evasion from rogue class

    Any thoughts?

I would go with 18/2. The extra Rages I don't think is superior to the extra crit range. Also, unless you're having problems with traps, I wouldn't go 2 Rogue at all. It's only 1 more BAB, 1d6 Sneak Attack damage, and the evasion feat. If you're solo'ing alot, and have problems with traps, then and only then would I think about Rogue - but I think it's too late for that. That's just my opinion though.

How are you playing the character now?

If your playing it like a pure tank I would go 18 fight/2 barb for the feats or even pally if you are lawful good.
If your playing it like a 2H DPS I would go 12 fight/8 barb for the rages, and Barb stuff
If your playing it like a 2W DPS I would go maybe 12 fight/6 ranger for tempest
If you keep getting killed my traps, etc. then go the rogue route.

I am a dwarven 2 handed fighter with maxxed STR focusing on DPS. Currently using a Carnifex great axe and loving all the damage he is cranking out. I also just got fighter haste boost IV and it ROCKS! I am also using stunning blow and trip quite a bit and I enjoy those a bunch.

So your Intelligence is probably really low, eh? Yea, I would stay far away from Rogue, unless you plan on reincarnating, which I also don't reccommend.

So you either have more Rage or more Crit Range. I would go with the Crit range, but that's just me.

Problem is you won't be the best barb you could be with 8 levels. A lot of raids will look for a pure 20 barb if they had a choice. (Just something to think about)

Personally I would go 18/2 because of that.

The rogue build is good for evasion and nothing else at this point.

The extra level of barb gives you +1 Con. and the barb enhacements to rage. If you stop at 2 barb.

If you go to level 8 barb you lose out on a few feats and Kensai III for not much. You don't get frenzy II until level 12 on a barb which is probably what you should have shot for.

The other option is to go 18/1/1ranger.

For 1 ranger you get the ability to use heal wands and favored enemy status against evil outsiders which is nice to have at higher levels.

With 12 Fighter/8 Barb the haste boost IV + decent rages + Kensai II power surges + barb PA enhancements sound like they would be AWESOME dps. But i am kinda new to the game so I am curious as to why I don't see more builds going that way? I saw a post that showed a build called the "Archon" build (12 fighter/6 barb/2 rogue i think)that had one of the highest DPS scores on one of the raids I think - it that correct?

When people splash Rogue levels, they usually take their first level as Rogue, to get the most skill points for it. They take their 2nd level shortly after that, for Evasion. You are way past this point, which is why I am telling you to stray from it, unless you want to reroll, or reincarnate with a +1 Lesser Heart of Wood.

yea - if i went with the 2 rogue lvls i would definitely do the lesser heart of wood +1 thing. I am kinda leaning towards the 12 fighter/8 barb though because I think it will give me the best DPS and I would not have to reincarnate at all.

Yeah, alot of people subscribe to the "no reason to have barbarian levels unless you have 18 barbarian levels" school of building.

Given the three choices, I would choose option 4 and man up to 20 fighter. 10% haste is nice, extra feats, full on kensai, 18 feats. Can weapon spec full on into 2 different damage types.

Though I can see where having rages and bursts at the same time is decent....

This is a huge misconception in this game.

On a cha dump dwarf with 6 cha, which is the worse possible case scenario...

    UMD for the win:

    +02 charisma (06 base +2 tome +6 item = 14 stat)
    +23 ranks
    +04 GH
    +02 HoGF
    +06 cha skills (Shroud craft)
    +03 skill focus UMD feat
    ------------------
40 little to no effort UMD

This is no fail heal scrolls, buffs, using race restricted items, raise dead scrolls, etc.

If you can fit the golden cartouche or another UMD item in, you dont even need to use the skill focus feat.
