Look I am not saying that what that person did was right in fact its down right disgusting to post any kind of porn period where there might be children able to view it.

The fact that this game depicts half naked women on it should suggest to a Parent that it may not be appropriate. The fact that you can undress and dress you character down to what I would call underwear would suggest its not appropriate.

This game is rated T-Teen for Violence, Blood, Alcohol Reference and Suggestive Themes. This should also be a hint to the parent that a child that or a parent of a child that you dont want introduced to an adult world with those themes in a ROLE PLAYING game shouldnt allow their child to play.

I could walk into a tavern get undress drink a Ghallanda Disstilate and chat with a female character in game that is one definition of ROLE PLAYING.. Now i would not do that unless of course its TAB.

The matter of the fact is if someone was to take this to a legal proceeding the defense would tear this appart and make the childs and the parents life hell.

Why Mr. OP was your child allowed access to this kind of material in the first place.

Mr. OP is your child the appropriate age recommended by Turbine game rating to be playing this game?

Mr. OP do you supervise your child while he or she is playing this game?

I can only imagine the many more questions that would be flying towards the OP from a defense attorney belittling his parenting and supervision of his children.

No I am in aggreement with the person that posted this should have been kept a private matter.

I am not suggesting your a bad parent in any way but what i am saying is that mistakes happen could you have prevented this and made your childs gaming experience more suitable YES!!

Your daughter took the appropriate actions by booting that person from her guild I also believe she should have reported it through the in game reporting system and let Turbine deal with it. But beyond that I believe that you should just take this as a learning experience for you and your daughter and advise her not to pull up any links that are posted anywhere!!
Actually, I didn't miss your point. I pretty much agree with this entire post.

My post that you quoted was more meant as a cautionary tale. People go to jail and get slapped with labels for things they never meant any harm over.

    Default Reminds me of Battlenet

I never did let my son play D2 on Battlenet because everytime I logged in it was like reading a script for a gay porn in general chat.

    Oh Battlenet.

Note: Not that g-porn (although gurl on gurl is hot, I assume it was not that kind because it was a joke so spear-fishing for doo-doo sharks is much more OMG!) should be posted to anyone's guild MOTD, but do keep in mind this game isn't rated Everyone. It was supposed to be a Teen+ (17+ even speculatively) type game in TOS & EULA.

I don't promoted waving nekkid pics around in front of kids, but the chances are that nefarious things have been done outside of game in emails to a kid that knows how to login, run a guild, use voice chat, etc. Parents beware: best thing you can do is preemptively tell your kids what they can and can't do online, what they're allowed to look at, and instruct them to immediately notify you if they see something "not cool." In this case your daughter apparently did that, so kudos to her because she apparently didn't want to see that material and she told you about it. Next, she (or you or both) booted the officer that posted the offending MOTD. Again, kudos on not letting it slide.

At that point you just need to talk with your kid, tell her that's abnormal behaviour and that she shouldn't want to interact with people that view/give that kind of material because they're not good people. It seems your daughter already has that sense about her so you must have done something right in the long run.

I think it would be incredibly hard to press this issue to a legal standpoint due to the anonymity of links. If Turbine does not log who posts MOTDs, deniability by the accused is 100% plausible if you drug their RL persona into a civil/federal court.

If you feel strongly over what has happened, contact Turbine Support and go from there. They will offer you options if there area any. It could be lack of logged MOTDs that end the issue in the long run. Maybe they'll ban the person (in which case that person will likely get a f2p account and start all over). They could ban the IP, but a dynamic IP or proxy will fix that issue too.

I'm not condoning the behaviour. If I was in chat with Tot N Tab, I'd probably spam it providing I knew there were no kids in the channel/party. I'd definitely show Hefty my own sack too. Other than that, not really into showing anyone g-porn (I may seem a hypocrite for all my Tattoo pics, but please note those girls DO have their clothes on and are not performing cunnilingus, etc.)

Is Ahten the guy that's been perma-zerged to F2P?
Viewing porn is abnormal behaviour? Then at least 90% of the male population is abnormal.

I'm all for monitoring what your teen is up to, but I am a little concerned with two things, firstly that the op thought it was significant to point out that GAYporn was involved (how is gay versus straight relevant?) and viewing porn is somehow uber-wrong?

I think the real offense is simply posting the link, but compared to the things I hear daily from members of my guild (which can't not be clicked on), it's no worse. I have the option of leaving my guild if I were to feel the chatter got out of hand, as guild leader this person had/has the option of booting offenders from the guild (which she did).

From the OP I can only gather that the fact it was gay is what concerned you? Or would you have said "it was STRAIGHT PORN"?

If she is a teen, she's seen more already, I promise you. She probably told you for shock value

And it sounds like she took the right first step. The second step would have been to file a harrassment complaint so the person at least gets a warning about appropriate content.
