Default Why not have these features....

I am a lifetime member of LoTRo. I like the game play of DDO much better than I do LoTRo so I am playing only playing DDO. However since the games are both run by Turbine, why can't DDO have some of the nice features of LoTRo.

    1. Searchable Auction House (YAY!!! I hear it might be coming later this year)

    2. Group quest tracker. When I group with someone in LoTRo I can instantly look at my quest list and see if we have the same quests, are they ahead or behind me in a quest chain, etc. (Even had the little rings as symbols. DDO could use little dragon heads) That would be so nice with DDO when grouping up with people and trying to decide what to do next. (We've all joined a group and after completing the quest found it was a good solid group then spent 30+ minutes trying to decide what to do next.)

    3. Different starting areas for different races. (I know this would be a huge undertaking, but it would be worth it for the gamers. Every veteran would create new characters in order to play the new content areas.)

    4. Titles for slaying in certain areas.

There are more features that I think would be good in DDO. But, these are the main ones I liked. Are we going to get any of these features anytime soon?

Oh yeah....And lifetime status with DDO. I'd gladly pay the same amount one time that I paid for LoTRo in order to not have to pay the monthly fees.

    1. Yes. Would save lots of time.

    2. Quest chains are not very long; at most, they represent an hour time. Additionally, by sharing the quest, you can see where your other party members stand. So we already have a similar feature, and its not even needed.

    3. No. Bad idea. The world is intentionally small, spreading out the races leads to no advantage. Furthermore, adding in new lowbie content is a waste of time. From an RP perspective, it makes no sense either; everyone in stormreach is a traveler.

    4. Too much clutter. We already have guild names, and slayers aren't even a major part of the game.

    5. This would be nice.

life time status is already there, you just have to buy each thing individual instead of everything as one bundle

    1. I agree.

    2. Do you remember being new? Remember doing CO6 for the first time? Some quest chains like Threnal and CO6 can be all-day adventures for new people. But I do agree, this feature is not needed.

    3. I agree.

    4. I agree the title should not be displayed for all of Stormreach to look at all the time, but maybe in the examination window? Or maybe it could be worth a small bit of favor (not that we need more favor, it's more about "completing" than the reward.)

    5. Not necessary if you Upgrade to Premium. ;-)

Maybe not for quest chains but you can't believe that knowing the quests that everyone in your group has by clicking on a tab is a bad thing. It would make the next quest and the one after that much easier to decide. Unless you plan on grouping together for one quest then find a new group for the next quest. I prefer to play in groups not spend hours looking for groups to do what I want.

    3. Bad idea for those who don't want it. So was the combustion engine and cars when they were first invented.
But you also do not startyour character in Stormreach, you start on an island or make a character on an airship if your a veteran. Everyone who "TRAVELS" to Stormreach from the entire world of Eberron came by this island and got shipwrecked by a dragon??? Show some imagination, some people like diversity.

    4. It's all about the role-playing.

    1 and 2 why not

3 pointless we supose to start in stormreach havent you read any eberron background its the only thing that makes real sense. this isnt wow or daoc so same start area is sensible here plus we dont have realm vs realm or race vs race pvp.

4 meh dont care since 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of players dont role play and only roll play it is a waste of dev time really

    2. In LotRo there are thousands of quests that can be chained from all over creation and its a pain to even remember what quests you have done. In DDO, there are a handful of chains, all in the low to mid level range. And its trivially easy to share quests with someone if you have it and they don't. You also get full xp, favor, and in quest loot from doing any quest, even if you don't "have it". So the feature does next to nothing. Who cares if Bob already has Chains of Flames? You just share it with him. The worst case is he doesn't get his one extra piece of loot after the quest this time.

    3. Yay! Logic fallacy! Why don't you start by laying out what advantages you see to having different racial starting areas. And then explain how it relates to Ebberon. There aren't many "racial" homelands in this world. You'd need several for the elves, though. And they'd have to restrict your enhancement choices, since those are mostly cultural.. Sorry, not a good idea. The common starting point to the story is "you get to Stormreach, a wild and uncouth colonial city on the strange new southern continent".

    4. Umm, what part of that is roleplaying? I'm confused by that suggestion.

Universally, everyone will agree with 1.

The rest, not needed and quite frankly junk.

You won't ever get a lifetime offer for DDO now.....for a very obvious reason.

Um..it already exists its called the DDO store just exchange a buttload of cash for turbine points and buy everything...if you want do it at 15 dollars a month that way its like rent to buy and the VIP guy your playing with would have spent the same amount of money but now your done and he has to keep playing or go back to nothing :P so in a way theirs ur lifetime sub...you just have to buy the "expansions" and unlike a certain other game you can skip a couple "expasisons" if they suck.

Greetings, Tricks. I'm also a lifetime member of Lotro.

    1. Would be nice.
    2. Not necessary. We don't have a limit of the number of quests you can have active.
    3. Again, not necessary. I don't believe you tried it before Korthos to know what it is like. Also the history of DnD helps to support the current method.
    4. Titles without value are meaningless. (I don't bother with titles in Lotro either)
    5. They have already stated there will never be lifetime due to the fact you do not have to pay to be able to play on the servers.

So then apply #4 to #3, come up with your own story. Problem solved.

What you should have suggest to make some standard mmo'rs happy would be left+right mouse button means moving forward. But that isn't an fps standard.

Not true. You can buy every thing in the DDO store, and still you can't enter quests on hard if you've never played them before like a VIP can. And there are a couple of other minor missing features.

It seems like letting someone pay $200 or $250 for a lifetime VIP status would actually sell enough copies to make it worth Turbine's while doing it. And $250 in the pocket is certainly worth a heck of a lot more than $15 per month when the product is something a good percentage of people will outgrow or lose interest in. (It's not like a cell phone contract, where you know you'll be getting that monthly fee forever.)

As you said, new players are shipwrecked (very convenient from an mmo standpoint as its an excuse to start with nothing), veteran players arrived on an airship.
You can make up your own backstory from what happened before you were on the airship, you don't need to have the game invent one for you if it is all about the roleplaying.

This used to be the case - resulted in only the leader or the leaders close friends getting loot and everyone else getting shafted. Thankfully this is no longer the case, by joining someone elses raid you have a chance at loot. Leaders are still free to limit who they invite. Raid loot is one reason guilds are popular
