Default DDO will not stop freezing my pc randomly

This game will NOT stop freezing my PC! Randomly, anywhere, anytime -- it just locks up my entire pc. Can't alt/tab, can't Ctrl/Alt/Del, can't move the mouse, the pc completely locks up and I have to cut the power. There are no signs of overspinning fans or anything of that sort, it's just random and VERY VERY INCONVENIENT!

    I have tried:
    Adjusting graphics
Playing in windowed/full screen modes both
    Using older drivers

    My setup:
    Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate
    8GB RAM
    Over 400gb free disk space

NVidia info: (2 cards in SLI mode)

I have frozen 4 times since this post. Once actually as I pressed "submit"! This is unacceptable! This needs to STOP.

I've had this problem since nuking XP and installing W7 x64

I've tried everything under the sun to fix it.. probably spent more than 10 hours on the problem.. it's some incompatability between the game engine and the ATI driver I think

LOTRO has the exact same problem.. funny really, since they are mostly the same game enginer

yep, since the last update ive experienced the same thing, and today i simply cannot stay in game more than a minute or so until the game freezes with a strange pattern effect on screen.

    @Impaqt

do you think you could have possibly come up with a more useless comment? why did you bother?

It's not an ATI issue because I'm running NVidia. Also, I don't get patterns the game simlpy stops entirely!

This has just started happening to me today. I've never experienced this problem before. I haven't changed anything about my PC.

Has anyone found a solution yet?

The game locking may not be video related. I thought I remember someone having a similar problem due to a sound issue, but I might be mistaken. Something to consider though....
