Default Let us rate the auctions

This way unsuspecting new players will not be ripped off.

On Cannith, I saw 10 singed soarwoods on the auction for 1,000,000 GP. That is just wrong. Someone is trying to capitalize on the Lightning Split Soarwood and posting a singed soarwood.

I would like the ability to rate an auction as a good deal, fair trade, or ripoff.

This way a new player that has spent a month collecting 1,000,000 GP does not buy something wrong and feel like they were hosed. Keeps the new player around longer.

yeah because only nice and resonable ppl would be allowed to vote ... no wait! just another way to harass others/be harassed by others.

you see this stuff on the ah with this ridiculus prices because noone pays those prices. good prices you glimpse for a second. then you either have bought it or someone else did. a good item with a good price is never on ah longer than an hour at max.

ppl that have 100k plat for your described auction are no newbies. they deserve what they get when they pay. now ppl paying 30k gold for a plain +3 weapon (because theyre lvl 4 and new to the game) will do this "mistake" surely only once.

    Default I second.

I agree that would be a nice thing. Although I rarely use the Auction, I prefer using the house markets giving a chance for for people to access decent items at reasonable prices. Would be nice if more people would make that effort if you don't need the money.

I would love to place comments and tell the auction poster that their Tear of Dakhan tear posted for 10,000 gold is a total ripoff.
Disappointed and without trust in the powers that be.

That is a truly great idea I'd love to be able to rate a posted item. Many of the items i see is outrageously over priced and some are useless. It would teach all the noobies and the older vet player a thing or to of not being greedy. What would also benefit us all is the ratings could also stand for the reputations the seller has built up over time to show he/she is worth buying from. lastly can show the players level of who posted that item altho that is optional.

I'm not convinced about voting, since - as has been pointed out - this could cut both ways.

I think I have a better idea though: make the auction fee for placing an item on the AH a percentage of the buyout price (or, say, double that percentage of the bid price if there's no buyout). 5% should be enough. And in return lower the AH fee on successful sells by an equal amount. That way, anyone who's asking a totally unreasonable price will not only not sell the item most likely, but also have to pay a percentage in proportion to that unfair price.
