    Default Necromancy Sorcerer

Today while doing a shroud raid I grouped with a wizard who was able to land wail of the banshee without hardly any resists. The ability to land this spell really shined in part three when orthons and demons spawn prior to and after the blades.

This to me an awesome display made me think what options my sorcerer has of being able to dominate with evocation spells, but also be able to master necromancy as well. This maybe a little greedy or even a pipe dream but it is worth a try can some of the veteran Sorcerers out there please comment, your added information is greatly appreciated.

What I believe I will need to add:

    1) Spell Penetration
    2) Greater Spell Penetration
    3) Spell Focus Necromancy
    4) Minimum Charisma 36

What do you guys think, is this possible or will I be forced to energy drain prior to landing a necromancy spell forever?

Very easy to do on shroud normal on a sorc also. Infact easier with our faster casting speed and low cooldown.

Infact I've done a recent shroud elite.. My killcount was in the triple digits. Elite does require the odd energy drain, or re-cast.

On normal i never energy drain, 9 casts out of 10 I'll get all 4 devils on part3 before any melee can get a swing off. I always get allot of "***s" in party chat from pug melee who never grouped with a proper necromancer before heh.

Actually I also like to zerg ahead and clear the scounts while ppl shrine.

Everyone zones in, theres only 1 scount left, and hes a stone statue.. ppl are very confused about what happened.

Tho my necro DC is near max.. DC40, 41 with full potion.
Spell Pen i only have a 28, which is plenty for normal.

That DC is actually tons, most mobs need to roll a 20 to save. The spell pen is the issue in shroud, think they have ~30, so save on a 2.. Elite greatly ramps up the spell pen.. But I had a friend shattermantle all the **** and I wailed it down all the same.

My feats are double focus, single spell pen. Saves are more so the issue then spell pen I find for 99% of quests.. Shroud is the exception, not the rule.

Having a high necro DC is absolutely great... until you get to epic difficulty quests. For those I highly prefer spell focus/greater spell focus conjuration and web. Web + waves of exhaustion + ray of enfeeblement on whichever mob the melees go after last = easy epic.

I prefer enchantment over conjuration for epic.

Mass Hold Monster + Barbarian with Epic SoS = Not only easy, but ultra fast epic win. Web has it's place too, but I find it lands fine without any focus, for what its good on (low reflex creatures that are otherwise tough to hold)

At some point I will probably respec my sorc for enchantment..

For now he will remain my elite quest pwnerer.. While my barbarians handle the epics hehe.

How do you get a 40/41 DC on a sorc? Is it a TR'd wiz? Is that with Yugo or store pots?

Most I can see (even if drow)

    19 base
16 CHA bonus (for 42/43) CHA - 42 is max human CHA, 43 is max drow CHA without pots currently
    2 focus feats
    2 greater focus item

Thanks for the infomative feedback to summerize:

    1) Spell focus Necromancy
    2) Greater spell focus Necromancy
    3) Spell penetration
    4) as many items to increase necromany DC

The above information will allow me to cast death spell without having to constantly engery drain first?
