Default To evade or not? at end game...

    Hi guys

I saw a couple of builds going away from pure pallies to splash either rogue 2, or monk 2, mainly for evasion.
My question is: is evasion really worth it at the end? Is it worth loosing capstone and abilities potency (duration, bonus, and whatnut)
Would love to hear from experience pallies that reached the end game, played with those spalsh build and what they think of it...
    Thanks

it boils down to preference tbh.

to put it in perspective: weapons of good are probably one of the most powerful capstones in the game, DMIV is awesome. divine sacrifice III (which you don't get in a 18/2 slash since you only get access to it at lvl 19 paladin) is also pure awesomeness.

on the other hand. the evasion splashes are monk or rogue. monk offers you 2 feats on top of umd which are often at least as big a factor as evasion to go /2monk. rogue on the other hand offers full rank of umd, which paired with the logically high charisma on paladins makes for high versatility in things you can use to keep yourself buffed/alive/mobile.

now, if you want a pure breakdown on if evasion is worth it alone it depends on your playstyle.
if you solo/shortman things often I'd say yes.
if you have a designated healer more often than not and want maximum dps... probably not.

I have capped both pure and monk splash paladins. I chose to TR into a monk splash bc I love the survivability on the guy and that I can be more than an evil outsider specced barbarian with better saves.

now, were I to drop a couple of epic chaosblades and an epic marilith chain... I'd TR into pure to be able to use the capstone to use the most awesome weapons for 2wf in the game against bosses, too but until then I'm having too much fun with evasion, 2 extra feats and epic content. thing adq1, adq2, half the quests in the von series, the upcoming epic tor...

both have their advantages, otherwise there would not be any debate over which way to go if it was a no brainer. ask yourself which category you fit in and make a choice ^^

I find that UMD is always handy, but displacing oneself is a giant offset to DPS builds. That being said the monk self heal, evasion, healing amp build is tantalizing enough to make me want to grind one.

Keep in mind when I play is erratic and its often easier to just low man or Solo Vale/Amarath quests.

Don't get my wrong I still PUG and I like being able to DPS and still raise the cleric or reconstruct the battle toad and nothing is better than standing in the BB to kill high end casters on elite and sneering. (And yes shortly after gloating or taunting I roll a one, but at least I can heal myself!)

    Yes

    Yes

Evasion - second best feat in the game.

The Pal cap is the best of them so far, but even it pales in comparison to Evasion with great saves. Any DPS > Dead DPS

You're going to get a lot of opinions on this one but I think it eventually boils down to preference. Personally, I prefer to have evasion on my tanks as I don't like to get nuked but my warchanter gets by just fine with a set of firestorm greaves and no evasion. That being said, when I TRd my tempest paladin I put two levels of monk on him for evasion and the extra feats.

    Hello guys

After writing this post a couple of weeks ago, i decided to respec my pallt to a pally/ monk and play with evasion...
    Here's my feedback:
    - Evasion is really great, i taugh it was overrated, but helllllllllllll no! Seeing ''save'' in my screen and no damage when casters nuke ya is priceless... well worth the -2d6 damage (from capstone)
    - The 2 extra feats from monk are not bad either, allowing me to take Extend and Maximize.
    - Lastly, evne if i'm wearing a robe (ya i know) my AC is actually better than when i was wearing my FP+5, wierd?
Anyway, just wanted to let you know, thanks for tipping me toward Evasion

The pali capstone is truly impressive, but I sure do miss evasion on my warchanter

It comes down to personal preference. Both are very valid build choices.

Curious why you took maximize? Increase your UMD and just carry a stack of heal scrolls.

Another benefit of monk splash is use your wisdom modifier for your AC. A benefit to that option, not saying that you will get higher AC then a pure pali with... etc etc. But mid-70s AC, UMD, Intim, decent DPS, evasions is a fun combo which has breathed new life into my first toon after a GR last week.
