Default I need help!! Voice Chat Bugs

I've got Realtek High Def Audio.

My Voice Play back Device in game is usually set at: Realtek High Def Audio
My Voice Capture Device is: Microphone (Realtek High Def Audio)

It keeps switching back to this below....(every 20 mins or so)
Voice Play Back Device: Realtek High Def Audio
Voice Capture Device: Realtek High Def Audio

In other words, i cant comunicate with anyone in group!!! It happens every 20 mins or so. Sometimes it happens every quest I go into and I have to keep manually changing my Play back Device to Realtek High Def Audio and the Voice Capture Device back to Microphone for everything to keep working so people can hear me in party chat. WHY DOES IT KEEP CHANGING SETTING ON ITS OWN?!?!?!?!! It never used to do that before.

I must have done something to make this happen because it started about a month ago. I used to be able to log on to DDO and my chat settings would stay the same, now it doesnt'. Its a pain in the ### to keep having to switch my settings around so people can hear me in party chat. Some times I cant even correct it.

FYI: This also happens in Ventrillo chat. It will just stop working and I have to restart it. Any ideas or am I not making any sense?

Any info would help. I'm logging now, but will check back in a few days to see if anyone replied. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it might be the sound driver if its affecting both DDO and Ventrillo. I'd look into making sure you have the most recent drivers for your card. Realtek releases updates for their cards here if needed but check first with your PC or motherboard maker since they may have more specific to your system drivers.

Thanks for the reply Mirthgar. I'll check the drivers. The problem actually happens every 3-4 mins or so, not 20 mins. Have you heard of the settings in game change on their own like that?

I've downloaded the most current sound drivers and the problem still persists. It's almost like Realtek (on my computer) or the game overrides my options every few minutes and defaults back to........

Voice Play Back Device: Realtek High Def Audio
Voice Capture Device: Realtek High Def Audio

    When it should stay at.........

Voice Play back Device: Realtek High Def Audio
Voice Capture Device: Microphone (Realtek High Def Audio)

I guess I'll mess around some more in the Realtek options and see if it's something there that's causing the continuous change in the game options. It's almost like Realtek "scans" or "senses" that the game options have been manually changed and it changes it back to what it "thinks" it should be set at??

Either that or your Windows "default" sound settings aren't set the same. Try right-clicking your Windows "speaker" icon near the clock and on XP choose "Adjust Audio Properties" and on Vista/7 its "Playback Devices" (recording devices takes you to the same dialog just defaults to a different tab).

In there make sure the playback and recording options are set "Default" on the right ones. (Voice and Audio tabs on XP and Playback and Recording for Vista/7).

Also try clicking the "default audio" button in the Audio menu in game to see.

Aside from that make sure Vent is closed when using the in-game voice also just in case theres a conflict there, (and vice versa if you're using Vent instead of the in-game option)

The only other suggestion I can think of after all that is to rename your Userpreferences.ini file in your "Documents" or "My Documents" > Dungeons and Dragons Online folder and have the game redo all its graphics/audio settings on launch, could be somethings getting "stuck" on an incorrect setting that is causing it.
