Dex-Based Assassin... Gimped from Birth?

Hey everyone. I've been thinking about building an Elvish assassin. I was originally planning on using the inherent Elf dex bonus to go with a finesse build. But after reading the forums, people seem to think that khopeshs are too cool to pass up. Thoughts?

I've got a Drow dex based Assassin and she is insanely fun to play. She often is high in the kill counts.

Yes, a str based kopesh build will do slightly higher dps, much higher against crit immune mobs. However, against anything except crit immune mobs, most of your damage is from sneak anyway, and high dex finesse means higher to-hit than some str builds can reach.

Nothing wrong with a finesse build. Grab some rapiers (including a Rad II as soon as you can craft one) and you will have fun.

Max dex, min 14 con, don't neglect strength completely, you will be fine.

Rogues are one of the few classes that can do well Dex-based, since most damage is delivered through sneak attack dice.

Just make sure that you get STR to 13 or 14, to be able to damage sneak-attack immune enemies and to qualify for Power Attack at your later levels. Even if you don't need it til level 18, you'll appreciate those extra points in places like Delara's and the Necropolis.

Since I'm a casual player, I only have a 28-point build:

Str 14
Dex 18
Con 13
Int 12
Wis 8
Cha 8

Should I switch Str & Con?
