hi there!
i started trying out ddo a couple of months ago using the tdm in tiered download, so i could start playing early, checking out game mechanics and so on...
everything went fine, i cleared korthos with a char and downloaded the game meanwhile, when suddenly after 2 days or so playing at every start of the game the client shut down by himself. when i tried to start, after entering credentials and selecting the server the game went to fullscreen, showing a few microseconds of the intro movie, just then stopping, returning to desktop without any prompts or error message. the client was not shown as running, nor did any related process except those tied to the tdm (so i assume they must have been stopped either by themselves, or firewall/virus-scan. deactivating those did not bring any other results...)
as i had other mmos running at that time, i dismissed it and uninstalled ddo as a result, since i had tried all the smartass-advice from the faq and tech-support forums but nothing worked
now after reinstalling the system from scratch due to some OS-version issues i tried again to download using tdm in layered mode, again playing a day and a half without any problems.
just until today....
again whenever i start ddo, i am asked for my credentials (which are accepted, thank you so very much ddo-launcher ^^) and select the realm/world/server (in my Case "Cannith").
after hitting the play-button everything looks fine, the music starts, i see a horned figure and then.... its over... no errormessage, no prompt, not even my windows is beeping.... windows responds normal, the client just stopped without any feedback
i'm slightly frustrated...
i use a dual-core p5 @ bla mhz, 2 gigs of ram, Sapphire radeon HD3850 (512 megs gdd3), onboard ac97 sound device
my hw does meet every little detail of the hardware requirements, my drivers are the latest but still, after trying all the advice which came up from searching the forum nothing works.
im just about to go into berserker rage ^^ since the game worked fine since yesterday, just starting to vex me today.
i changed absolutely nothing on my machine, so i can't accept the standard answer to check for my drivers or any of that standard-dont-bother-me-i'm-just-first-line-support-****, since absolutely the same behaviour occured about 4 months ago the first time, and my system works well with other applications (and i installed everything completely fresh in the meantime from OS to drivers, using all the shiny original drivers and sites)
is there anybody out there who has the slightest idea what to do?
i really want to try the game further (i wouldn't have bothered installing it again after the disaster last november if i didn't), but i'm really disappointed that im runnin into the same error again which i could not solve since...
