    Default Need some build tips...

So I finally buckled and upgraded to VIP so I could get me my Warforged. But now, I face the big issue...how in the world do I build him?! xD

I already have something of an idea of what I want to do with him...what I really wanted was a combat machine, no pun intended, capable of soloing as much as possible. The plan was basically to get him up in Wizard to the point where he gets Reconstruct so he can heal himself. Then, hopefully that combined with the other various buff spells would make him capable of melee, hence the remaining levels - probably in Barbarian. I was also contemplating two levels of Rogue for Evasion, the little extra Sneak Attack damage, and some more skill points, which is always nice.

So far, I've got two build ideas:

Wizard 13 / Barbarian 6 / Rogue 1 - Gets me as high as I need for the last Lineage of Deadly Force enhancement (because I just LOVE the idea of getting a critical hit on healing myself <3) as well as the last Energy of the Scholar, gets me Barbarian CON II, and then all the Sneak Attack damage he'd get plus some skill points.

Wizard 11 / Barbarian 7 / Rogue 2 - I give up Lineage of Deadly Force III, Energy of the Scholar IV, and 7th-level spells, but I get Evasion and a little more to my BAB. Forgot whatever other enhancements become available to help me out here.

What I'm asking for advice on is which of these I should go with, or if I should go with a different build entirely. Regardless of what build I go with, it'd also help to know what levels I should increase in what class, but I think I may be able to figure that one out on my own. At any rate, I hope I can make this character one that can solo things very well - and I think that Warforged have the best shot at this, primarily thanks to Reconstruct.

Oh, and I do understand that this guy will not be a very good caster. That's not really his purpose. The main thing I plan to do with this character is make a self-healing, self-buffing war machine. xD

    Any tips? =D

    Thanks, anyway. ^_^

The problem with barbarian is that you can't cast while raged... and if you don't rage then fighter offers more in the melee department.

What you need to decide is if you want to be a melee character who can help buff with spells (since your damage spells will be pathetic at this level) or do you want to be a spell caster who can melee at lower levels and then become a spell caster later on. You can't do both, you won't be good at both.

I personally like the sorc/pally build since the pally levels do really help out with saves. Whatever you choose you should make a WF to heal yourself out.

This is true...and I suppose the STR enhancements from Fighter would be more useful than even more CON. xD

Well, of course the "melee caster with buff (and self-healing) spells" thing. But I'm not certain what's better for that...xD

Actually...I AM starting to like the idea of the Sorcerer/Paladin build myself. You're all converting me! xD

What you need to do then, is look at the sorc spells before you even build this and think of what you want to take. What I ended up doing was converting my sorc into a tank build with max shielding and armor, casting firewalls, standing in it and watching things burn. The other thing to consider is that when you get to higher level groups, the pure sorc/wizzys will have better spells to buff with and more sp, and your higher level spells may not even land. Also your BAB with your melee will be very very far behind the rest of the party. As crazy as it sounds, a full intimidate pally/sorc fully armored standing in a firewall with a shield drawing aggro and then healing himself is actually one of the better (not best) routes to go.
