Default PLEASE Change Loot Chest Viewing Already!

I know I've seen this topic come up before but there's been no change.

I'm pretty sure we'd all greatly benefit (a piece of mind, less drama) from it.

    What we want:

PLEASE make it so that the only person able to see an individual's loot is the person it drops for.

    Why?

If somebody pulls something they should be able to do with it as they wish. Period.

Let the Noobs take something they can't use. Maybe they'll learn, maybe not. Let nature take it's course.

And if somebody pulls a great piece of bound loot which they cannot use and wants to give it to the person(s) of their choosing without a bunch of drama they should be able to do so.

Now that I run my Raid Train 2x a week I've seen some pretty ugly sides of people - greed, jealousy, envy, drama over loot. It's uncalled for but I got to blame Turbine at least in part for how the system is set up.

They've had how many years to fix this now?

I believe this to be an important issue that with such a simple change would banish a great deal of the drama around loot drops.

    Thanks,
    Aten

And if they do something stupid and greedy with it, why should the people who actually enabled him to reach that chest be denied that knowledge?

And also create drama by introducing the possibility to question if a person was dishonest about what actually did drop.

    /signed... agreed 1000%

Greed is human nature, Seen families torn to shreds because of it after a death of a loved one.... in game it is going to be no different....

However, I will add, put in a "up for roll" window, so people can view it if it does go up for roll... not everyone knows what everything is...

    Your way makes more drama.
Yes, let us enable the unwashed masses to attempt to scam others by offering their "raid loot" for trade.

What we don't know ain't gonna hurt us.

Seriously, I'm not a person who gives a hoot over what somebody else pulls/gets. So why should I care?

    Why do you care?

Let them take some item they can't use and let us not know about it.

I'll get my item(s) sooner or later.

And besides the good players will announce they have an item up for roll or just pass it to their friend.

    No drama.

    Simple as that.

edit: I absolutely cannot understand how anyone could possibly not agree with this.

    It boggles meh mind.

Not seeing other loot creates too many problem, especially for friends of guilds that share the loot and need to see what others get so they can decide who gets what. Also, people need to see other people's raid loot to see if they should stick around and ask if there will be a roll or just leave.

    Hello!

In software design we have the principle "Optimize for the common case".

The most common case for binding loot dropping is that the person who got it does not need it, does not care who sees it, and wants everyone else to be aware of it without having to do a lot of extra work on his part.

You forgot to add in the part where all of that could be accomplished by not looting the warded chest until everyone else leaves.

Your loot is your loot, dont let anyone tell anything else for you.

If your loot doesnt show for anyone else, how would you be able to brag?
Editing everything i post, since day 1. Things make much more sense inside my head.

    Here's one problem with this.

Dishonest Noob; /tell Uber Hey, I've got the ring you want, 500k plat and it's yours.

Uber; /tell DN; OK, sure. Switch it and I'll give you the plat.

DN; /tell Uber; Nah, trade me the plat first.

    Uber; /tell DN; OK.

/trade. Dishonest Noob switches +5 healer kits. Recalls. Gone.

Sure this happens too often and word gets around, but with the community we have now I see it being a problem.

Basically no way to trade raid loot this way, no seeing that it's there to even trade.

I think with TR coming and the way the community is going it is time to drop the need before greed attitude. An attitude that I've always believed in btw.

This is exactly the type of drama I'm sick of.

You come here, not knowing me from Adam to just insult me without even reading the post?"

    Jeesh.

I wish you people would grow up.

Yeah... that's a much better solution.

    "anyone want this encrusted ring"

    "what's it do"

    "this this and this"

    "what was that last thing?"

    "this"

    "could you just type it?"

    types it out

    "oh... nah"

    "anyone else?"

"what was the first couple things, I wasn't listening?"

All because you don't want people to see what you loot and accuse you of being greedy?

    Wow.

Just wait till everyone else leaves already.

What other conceivable reason would you want people to not see you loot than you are looting something that doesn't typically get used with that character type?

That's the only possible case I can see that this helps.

A previous poster suggest a trade window viewing option thingy .. or maybe an option for "Make Public?"

Current chest viewing makes people generous or greedy. While annoying whenthe party waits 5 minutes for thetrade +1 arrows, it also helps by encouraging to share with others.
