Default Weapons & Armour: Information Needed!

Good day to you all, fellow DDO players. I began playing this wonderful f2p game a few days ago and i must say that i love everything about it. Even considering spending some dollars on it.

Anyhow. I've taken level 3, soon to be around lvl 4 and i've been wondering, there is such a small difference between weapons and armour here. I've been searching for some way to enchant, perhaps that is why all my weapons are doing the same damage, because i am not enchanting or upgrading gear, thats what i thought. But i cant find how to do it? Is it a way? I've seen people running around with blazing lightning swords and stuff... i wanna know if that's something i can get too?

And about armour... i've noticed that alot of gear looks different but carries the same names. Like there is a viking looking great sword, but also a conan looking one and full plate armour and full plate armour.

Can someone explain to me how the whole concept with items works in DDO`? I know the system, cause i've played D20 games irl. But well... DDO is faar from a real roleplay experience.

At early levels you are stuck with either what you find, what you buy from the Auction House, or what someone may give/loan to you (like from a guild bank). You can craft later down the line, but nothing this early on.

And yes, the same exact armor can look completely different.
There is no lag. Just because you had none before and can't play now doesn't mean the server move had anything to do with it.

Up to some details that don't matter much for you at this point, you can't "enchant" your weapons. You need to find the good stuff, which happens mostly by running higher level quests (note that the Sharn Syndicate pack offers good low-level gear - better than what you usually get at this level).

The look of armor/weapons has zero effect on what they can do, and is random for randomly generated gear.

Crafting is practically non-existant in DDO compared to many other MMOs.

    Suggest looking here:

But at low levels you may as well forget about it. The weapons ARE all very similar. If you want some variety, and are willing to spend some money, Sharn Syndicate (L4) has some very nice for the level end reward weapons. Many people advise against Sharn Syndicate for various reasons. I like it a lot. Horses4courses.

However, I would personally advise against spending any money till you've played a bit more. Be patient, the drops will come.

Edit: what Tihocan said, really. **** you, Tihocan and your succinctness!
