Props to the Monks of Sarlona

I use to hate having Monks in groups.....but over the last few months having one in the group over all is well worth it. Keensly of the top of my head is top notch as well as Panzys monk. I'm glad they gave monks some love...hopefully they'll give some more soon. I know people on other servers still are having monk issues.....but on Sarlona they are pretty **** good.

Sounds to me like you previously grouped with a few bad monks and are finally getting some good ones. The changes they made to us were not so drastic as to suddenly make the class 'worth having' as if it weren't before. It's the players' skill that make a good or bad monk, much like any other class. Glad to see someone enjoying monks in their group.

The love has been huge. When monks came out they were completely gimped. Over the past few updates they have been given much love, namely the ability to break raid boss dr.

I beg to know how, please! Is there a method that doesn't involve farming for Devouts (sick of that, really sick) or ToD rings (very far from that, but I would like to run at least the Shroud or DQ)?

never heard of Silverhair, looked up his stats... they dont compare in my opinion to Distime's... sorry.. and as I said, That I have seen....and they are the ones that I've seen outshine all others, out of the monks I have played with... plain and simple...

Distime, Keensky and Ecliptical, are by far the best monks I have seen on the server...

I though silver was a harper though, they are all so casual, hard to say any of them are in keens's "class" christ keens is so intense his forum posts are in code....

Many of the monks I have run with are great. I did run with one who was a bit of zerger and we were running without a cleric. A few people followed him and it made for a chaotic romp that was ultimately successful. But a lot of people died on an elite quest with one shrine. Kind of annoyed me that they wouldnt work cohesively together, but such can be some pugs.

What was worse though is after the quest a few people said thanks and left and this monk started ripping into the other players. How bad they were... etc etc... After a 17 minute quest where some people were dead for 12 of those minutes I would question why anyone would disparage others so ruthlessly.

And it wasn't as if he himself didn't die 3 times... nor did he lead in kill counts for first place or even second. (The Wizard we had owned in kills and passed out stone skins and blurs and timely resists etc.)

To me it struck me as pure, elitist, unfounded garbage. Trash talking players who arent even in group anymore. The leader of the group kicked him after the quest during the middle of his hate rant and thanked us for the group. I know I 'friended' him.

Its unusual to run into people like that but it happens. Most people I have met in Sarlona lately have been much friendlier and the monks especially are typically first rate. Some of the top players I have run into have me puzzling through MyDDO to figure out their crazy builds or ridiculous gear hehe.

you want the good stuff? got to farm it. I could puke if i have to run another epic von today, but thats what it took . ill sleep on it then run a few more tomorrow.

Please, don't get me wrong. I'm more than willing to farm for anything, but I don't have all that time for playing and every run though the Shadow Crypt flagging usually takes me two or three days. I hope you can understand how frustrating it can be.

That's way I was looking for something that doesn't involve long chains or high level raids I don't have access to (basically, it's not my style to pike or being carried through, so let the others do the dirty job is a no-no).

A collectibles turn-in reward as the Minos Legens (4 hour of solo farming for 20 tapestries), should make my day.

I think having ToD rings have helped alot with DPS and new handwraps etc.,etc.

Even some of the good players that I know and grouped with all the time were less than optimal back in the day. The monk class overall has been upgraded in the last 6 months......trust me it's not all just player ability.

I suppose I should clarify my position as maybe i've missed something. I've only played since november, and started my monk in january. When I commented on the changes, it was in regards to the only one I've seen: the recent improvements to the dark side and the changes that gave us the first tier of stances as feats. Where there alot of changes just before I joined?

I think monk is the hardest class to build right, and play well. Big props to the guys who stuck it out, figuring out the class and giving it a good name.

Quis, Hasan, Akastos, to name a few more, all give Monks a good name.
