I've found that the random appearance of armor wouldn't bother me so much if I could alter the color, in many cases. For example I played a few monk characters in tabletop D&D (1st & 3rd ed.) but I never imagined their robes having such gaudy colors. Ok, white isn't gaudy but I'm allergic to wearing white. Shaolin monks wear bright orange and white I think but this is a fictional setting we're playing in. So, why not have the option of wearing fits our own idea of how our character would dress if we wish? If I could turn my monk's orange & white outfit to grey & brown or something I'd be giddy. Even all one color for the outfit would be preferable to the gaudiness. Since there's an option for changing hair color can it be that different to change the colors of gear? I'm sure it's much harder for the developers to try and predict what colors players will want than to just allow them to choose their own.
