    Default Barbarian/Rogue

I have a 5th level rogue that has been very fun to play but lacked the hit points to play solo. I also had a 7th level barbarian. I decided to multiclass my barbarian character with the rogue class to get the best of both worlds. I have since become a 7th level barbarian, 3rd level rogue. But I am a bit confused. When I play my straight rogue, he will sense traps, I will search for them, find the mechanism, and disarm it. But with my multiclass rogue he will still sense the trap, but when I search for it I can never locate it so it can be disarmed. Why is this? Is it because I am wearing armor? It's the same when I sense a hidden door. My rogue can find it immediately, but my multiclass can't. Any insights?

your search is too low. the reason you sense it is because you get trap sense as a barb.

rule of thumb when your going to multi with rogue, take it first.

edit* by first I mean take lvl one as rogue

You probably don't have enough points invested in your search skill to be able to locate the traps, or don't have a high enough base INT.
