Default Explain this to me, please

I don't really PvP. If there's a bunch of guildies feeling lazy, I'll stand at the top in the Lobster and heal as they come up, but I'm more there for the chat.

I do know that there are a ton of spells in my list (Cleric) that if I *did* PvP I would love to use, but they cannot be used in Tavern Brawls.

I'm sure there are many reasons to consider a spell for the "Do Not PvP" list including griefing, being overpowered, etc. which I understand.

My question is: Are there any melee capabilities that may not be used in PvP? If there are, could you give me a brief explanation why?

Griefing happens all the time in PvP. That's only a small part of the reason I don't go down there very frequently.

Last time I was down there, some high level caster had cursed, blinded, and danced some level 5 guy.

Melee buffs should all be PvP Accepted.

It might be a little easier to understand my perspective when I tell you that if a build has no blue bar, I've no idea what boosts and "buffs" it may have.

You say that Melee buffs should all be PvP accepted, which leads me to believe that some are not. I'm interested in finding out if there are any melee-specific (non-spell) based capabilities that are not usable in PvP.

For comparison's sake- two months ago, I was on a 20 Cleric and a 20 Monk came up and Quivering Palm'ed me. I died so F'ing fast, that I sent a tell to the guy and asked him to do it again because I wanted to see if it really was that instantaneous a death.... it was. No fight at all- he hit me and *ding*.

Does not allowing my best and most damaging spells in brawls gimp the PvP caster? Is PvP considered a "melee arena"?

QP is comparable to the casters spell "Finger of Death". If you had Deathward on, or a Deathblock item, it wouldn't have done anything to you.

AFAIK, that's the only insta-death melee skill, unless you count the dark monks attack that does 500 points of damage.

The other melee skills would be trip, sunder, stunning blow, etc.

You do know that PvP pits are usually dominated by caster right? I'm not saying a melee toon cant beat a caster down, but it happens more the other way around from what I've seen.

    No, I didn't.
I meant what I said in the OP.... if I'm there, I'm usually chatting with guildies and sorting my **** ingredients bag- I'll shoot them a rez or a heal or buff them when they ask, but I've no idea about what the norm is for PvP. I know that there are certain unspoken rules and etiquette- if you do XYZ, it's considered weak, etc. But yeah, I've no idea of the daily ins and outs.

The two dozen or so times I've been down there, I've been engaged by melee toons. Arcanes don't touch me, but Melees see this little Halfling Cleric and bum-rush me like their paycheck is on the line.
