It's offical! Half-Orcs are coming to DDO

As the title says, it was announced on the main site in State of the Game that Half-Orcs will be the new Race for DDO. So for all you fans of the race rejoice. So let start our speculation racial enhancements, house bonuses and dragonmarks feats effects.

Yet another "promise" from Turbine that half-orcs are on the way. I won't hold my breath since we have been told for 3 years that they were On the Way (tm). When I see them, then I will get excited. Turbine's track record for broken promises is greater than their follow-through.

My thought is they will hype up half-orcs over the summer as an upcomming player race and then spend 3 months making excuses. Look for them during the very last update of the year if we're lucky...

Personally, I would much rather see planetouched races (aasimar / tiefling) or Genasi added.

Hmmm, not a pro in Eberron lore comrade but I don't think there's genasi here.

If they do have a strength enhancement line like fighters then that could be something to get excited about I guess for a melee toon.

Genasi are from FR originally. I don't recall seeing them memtioned in any Eberron novels.

the only way Half Orcs will be on time is if (The Cube be praised) it is a TP purchase, then you will see them out as quickly as the (praise The Cube) paint dries, and (hail The Cube) you can be sure they will charge a premium.

First of all, when a producer says that something "is in the works", it's not a "promise". That's exactly why they are usually reluctant to give us news of future plans. When something doesn't go through, people get butt hurt.

Secondly, keep in mind that they hit a wall after that update by Kate Paiz. Subscriptions started dropping, the economy took a dive, the game was on a downward spiral. Now that they have a steady income with the new subs and the ddo store, things are looking up.

half-orcs will definitely have str racial enhancements

32 point half-orc fighter:

20 str + 5 enhancements (2 racial + 3 class) = 25 + 5 level = 30 + 2 tome = 32 + 6 item = 36 + 2 rage clickie/potion = 38

38 before kensai boost

32 point half-orc barbarian:

20 str + 2 enhancement = 22 + 5 level = 27 + 3 tome = 30 + 6 item = 36 + 10 (maxxed barb rage) = 46 + 2 frenzy = 48 + 2 rage clickie/potion = 50 + 4 death frenzy = 54 + 2 capstone = 56 (very sustainable)

half-orcs will be able to compete with wf for top class for melees

half-orc frenzied berzerkers will be pretty powerful especially if they get some racial weapon enhancements, etc.
