    Default Rust Monsters? What do they do?

    Hey all,

    Newly reincarnated into a WF for my 1st (Possibly last) True Reincarnation so still quite new to the WF race. Got a question that is (I feel) skimmed over, and not really explained or gone into detail (at least, not from the quick search I did just now about it).

    And that question is:

    "What exactly do Rust Monsters do to Warforged?"

    And no, I don't mean kill. That bits clear from many threads around. And the fact some WF PuG's I was in left us in the firing line leaping away from the fight.

    From the combat log, I've seen two things that a Rust Monster can do to a WF.

    Rust. I have NO idea what this does. Can anyone explain? I've failed saves for it before. Think it's a Fort Save. But can't tell what it's supposed to do.

    Stun. Again, a Fort Save. I haven't really had this fire off either. And I can't believe this is what made those WF PuG's dash away all those times.

    I've also seen WF die inexplicably. But I couldn't tell if it was from combat or instant kill. Anyone more experienced with the WF weakness able to comment or add more to this? Really interested in finding out what exactly occurs.

    Extra acid damage on hits, and stun on a failed fortitude save.

    The acid damage is generally of the caliber that an at-level resistance buff/item can negate it, but the stun is very annoying, especially with a full group (the DC scales up quite noticeably).

    If you're playing a light-side monk (or have one in the party) the Grasp The Earth Dragon buff will prevent the stun effect, but you'll still take the extra damage... iirc rust monsters also pretty much always auto-aggro on any WF they see (woo DINNER!)
    I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

    Hate rust monsters... fortunately I carry an Everbright Mace to use on them. Like they said, the Stun's the annoying part. As for that Monk trick, thanks, I'll look into that...

    All I know is at level 12, I got crit hit by a level 8 Rust Monster, and it stunned me for 1 minute, 12 seconds. I am pretty Xenophobic when it comes to those critters because of that.

    Bow and arrow, and stand veerrrrrrrrrrrrrrry far away.

    BTW, I'm a rogue who through magical means does what he can to keep from dying. I'm certainly not anticipating my first encounter with a marut.
