When I attempted to log into DDO today using my non-admin account in Vista, I got this error message window:
Window Title: ChangeACLtoAllowUserRW
Window Contents: ACL change failed in SetNamedSecurityInfo
***The window title and window contents prefixes weren't in the actual window, they're just there to tell what was where in that error window***
The only button in the window was an "OK" button, so I clicked on it and hoped that the error was insignificant. It wasn't. The game hung on "Loading Screen 3" and stayed that way.
What was weird was that I had just gotten the new loading screens a day earlier in the admin account, and it still works in the admin, but as soon as I go on the non-admin acc it hangs again.
Is this something to do with user priveleges? Or something else entirely?
Someone please answer. I tried to search on the knowledge base but got nothing. If you know anything about this, like whether or not it's a priveleges thing, or something to do with Vista, or whatever, I would appreciate it if you could help me.
(P.S. If anyone knows how to get a program to be recognized by Vista, that would help too. So far I can't play DDO without using the admin or turning User Account Control off, which is a pain in the neck because Vista won't let you do anything at all when UAC is off.)
(P.P.S. And please don't post stupid or obvious answers like "Vista sucks, get 7" or "Get a Mac" or "Just use the admin...". I want to see if I can fix this first before I do anything else like that. Thanks for your cooperation)
