    Default "DC" focused build?

Went through the first few pages of posts, but couldn't find much discussion regarding a "DC" based Favored Soul. I am a returning player and only have experience up to level 14. I always enjoyed crowd control and my two most played toons were wizard and sorcerer. Both focused primarly on save based spells such as hypno, hold monster, finger of death, etc. I would be willing to get one of them to 20 for a reincarnation and the past life goodness. I mention all that so I can ask this:

    * In regards to the higher end and the more difficult content; are "DC based" Favored Souls viable and generally well acceptable by the community?

    * Would I be better off just playing an arcane with UMD?

Depending on the answers I'll probably edit this post with more questions, but I don't want to impose too much, all at once!

Divine Crowd Control isnt all that exciting come End game. THe other issue is that out 2 biggest CC Spells are from different schools. Greater COmmand and Cometfall.

My Evoker Build is a DC focused build though. BB and Implosion are much more entertaining.....

I have a max DC FvS and she does fine. You'll have a slightly smaller spell point pool than a CHA based FvS, but don't worry about it. You should still be able to get close to 3000 SP. I believe I started with a 18 WIS, 14 CHA and 14 CON.

The symbol spells have alot of potential, but I am disappointed with the area and casting time of them. On my cleric (I also have symbol of stunning on my fvs) I have been experimenting with the symbol spells in the epic vons. Symbol of stunning or persuasion can be very nice, but it is horrible in many of the wide open spaces in the Vons unless someone kites the mob through that square. My FVS used it in sleeping with dhust for instance the other day before the end fight and it worked great on the spiders thus making the arcane's job stoning the spiders easier. If they speed up the casting time just a little and made it a slightly bigger aoe the symbol spells could be quite fun and rival gcommand and cometfall.

I have high hopes that there will be a caster oriented fvs and cleric pre. Something that increases their dcs.

Its not the casting time that kills me with symbols... Its the freakin cooldown....

I carry SoS on my Clerics usualy, but I cant justify the Spell slot for samething I can only cast every 5 minutes.

Wouldn't wizard past life feat help since, if I'm reading it correctly, it improves the DC of all spells you cast?

All in all though its sounds like I'd be happier as an arcane caster again? I was really hoping to try something new and all the bonuses the FS gets sure seem fun. DR, super jump, etc... oh well!

It really depends on how serious you are about maxing the DC.....

In Shavarath, Divine CC is pretty difficult to land....

Does the following seems like something your willing to Do/Grind?

    Build stuff:
2 (Or more) Spell Focus feats
    Both Spell Penn Feats
12 Action points in Spell Penn Enhancment.
    Heighten Spell Feat

    Gear:
    +3 (Or better) Wisdom Tome
    +3 Greensteel or TOD Ring/Set
    +6 (Or +7 EPic) Item
    LotD Trinket
Yugoloth Favor for +2 Wisdom Pots

To be fair, Your looking at the same commitment level for an arcane as well....

The build requirements don't seem too difficult if you consider a human would have eight feats to spend. It looks like most people take Maximize and Quicken. Extend seems popular, but I'm not sure if I'd consider it needed at higher levels. But for now lets assume I keep those three, I'd still have five left to play with. Heighten is a given. Then three wizard_past_life_spell_pen and the wizard_past_life_DC_bonus? I'd guess thats enough spell pen, but maybe light on the DC boost.

Gear is hard to think about without a frame of refrence. +6 items I already have. I've had +2 tomes before, but I don't know how hard +3's are to get now. Wisdom pots, LotD trinkets... couldn't hazard a guess.

And more generally speaking; is it safe to assume its "better" to reincarnate a wizard than a sorcerer? Sorcerer past life feats seem pretty weak compared to the wizardly ones. Also, if I reincarnate a drow would I be able to make a 34p Human, or only a 32pt? If it matters I already have 2000+ favor so I have 32pt builds already.
