Default Greater Reincarnate Human Wizard -- How does this look?

I'm planning to greater reincarnate my human wizard, currently level 18. I've planned out through level 20, but wanted to get some feedback before going through with the GR.

    What should I do differently?

Odd stats have no effect, except qualifying for a few feats. Having your constitution at 15 is fine if you want to take human adaptability : constitution at level 13. Dexterity is useless, drop it to 8. Bring your strength to 12 or 10 (then use a +2 strength tome) and put the rest of the points into charisma. Max out use magic device : if you can bring your total modifier high enough, it lets you use heal scrolls. 39 UMD means 100% success on heal scrolls.

    Subtle spellcasting is useless.

I don't like combast casting and mobile spellcasting, but maybe you will. Look at http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=236167 for my suggestion on feats.

The link in your signature is broken.

I figure odd stats are easy to bring up with a +1 tome. +2's are harder to come by. What does charisma do for a wizard?

As for feats, I didn't figure it mattered what I put in where, since this is a greater reincarnate. It's not like I'm working my way back up through the levels, I am just going to be level 18 with all the stuff I've selected up until then.

Oh, and the signature link used to be valid. Looks like the thread got pruned at some point. Too bad, I rather liked it.

+2 tomes are rare, but they can be found in the auction house, so those are not unreasonable expectations. They are expensive, so you may want to check your funds and the AH to decide what you are going to do.

About the feats : you're right, but think about the poor newcomers who might come here and use your build as a template for theirs.

Charisma improves your use magic device skill. Since it is not a class skill, it is worth considering putting point intos charisma to improve it. I have even seen wizards builds that had up to 16 charisma, and they were not getting things mixed up with sorcerers. They wanted to have 39 UMD to get reliable self healing on drow wizards. One even took the force of personnality feat so the high charisma would help with will saves. However, that's a heavy investment, so it's down to personal play style.

You aren't going to get to a reliable level of casting heal scrolls with a wiz unless you max out your umd gear. If you have extra points, dump them to wisdom for will save.. +2 will save will do more for you than +2 umd.

    I did:
    10str
    8dex
    16con
    18int
    12wis
    8cha

    I could have done:
    10str
    8dex
    17con
    18int
    8wis
    8cha
and put 1 more point to any of the 8's
That would have allowed me to put 1 point of con from human adapt and even that stat to 18, then +2 tome and +6 item for 20 more hp in the end. However, that one point is a waste after that, so I chose to put 4 points to wis instead. Personal preference I guess.

+2 tomes are pretty easy to come by at end game... they don't drop as often as +1's of course, but as stated, are not that expensive at auction (200-250k plat on average), and are available at the ddo store as well.

Take insightful reflexes if you want a decent reflex save. Dex is worthless to a wiz.

Pick up the Past life Wizard feat you can get that once ur lvl 3, This will give you +1 dc to all your school focus and give you 10 uses of magic missle Huge it also gets threw night shield and shield spell so there no stoping this. It does about 200 pts dmg per cast at lvl 20 that 2k free dmg.

Its great in quest is awsome in PVP too

Its the best deal around for past life purchasable feats.

    16 cha = +3 umd
+2 at level 1, +.5 at all other levels for 11.5 total
    +3 for +6 cha item
    +4 for GH
    +1 for voice
    +3 from necklace
    +6 from GS item.
31.5 umd gives what, 55% on heal scrolls? And you sacrifice necklace, trinket, and conc opp gs item to get that (only -1 for conc opp item vs eee or ppp item)

Did I miss something? 7 fingered gloves for 2 more maybe.. so 65% tops.. 70 with better luck trinket. (I don't think necklace stacks with gloves does it?)

Put those points to CON for 60 more hp, heal scrolls won't be so critical. Or just hope they don't fix the no-fail heals right now.. hehe.

You'll have to find it yourself because I'm lazy, but the build I'm referring to did reach 39 UMD. I remember it had skill focus UMD. It also covered all the essentials (decent con etc) .
