Questions from a ranger noob

Yeah, never had a full ranger before, so a couple questions:

Rangers get all the TWF feats for free, right?

That means the only DEX one needs is for the feats requisite for Tempest? Thats.... uh... 13 for dodge, correct?

That means that for a 32 point, DPS only build, would

STR 18
DEX 13
CON 16

Be a decent start?


One more thing: how does Rangers to hit compare to fighters or barbarians on Epic content?

Correct on both counts about DEX.

Assuming you're talking pure builds: fighters get +3 STR enhancements, 10% attack speed boost, and their Kensai bonuses (presuming you're going for a max DPS build); barbarians get Mighty Rage, Barbarian Might, and Power Rage IV, which I think adds up to +14 STR when raged; rangers get +10% attack speed from Tempest I, reduced offhand attack penalties from Tempest II & III, and +2 STR from Ram's Might. So my guess is fighter or barbarian will end up with higher total attack bonuses than rangers.

IMHO, you don't play a pure ranger for max melee DPS, you play it for the extra versatility they provide.
