    Default Olrick- Pure Defender of Siberys

    For a long time, my Paladin tank build was one of my favorite character, but as I progressed to cap, I found that the things that worked so well at cap 16 combined with a different playstyle I had grown into had made him far less useful as a character. Things like intimitanking becoming far less viable because of the buggy usage, and very high checks that were almost impossible to reach without gimping my paladin, made hate tanking a much preferred tactic to intimitanking. With divine riteousness, incite on my armor, and defensive stance I was able to hold aggro off barbarians in twf CE mode.

    When epic was launched, tower shields became far less viable than epic shields with +7 enhancement on them, and intimitanking became even harder for a paladin, ac became less valuable than dps, and to hit became more important. So I rebuilt my paladin as pure, able to reach the same ac, deaing 3d6 a hit more damage, and able to use epic chaosblades while bypassing harry/sally/dq dr.

    Strong points of this build
    36 str+weapons of good+ the most powerful weapons in the game+ alll that fun paladin stuff (divine might, smites, etc)
    strong chance on heal scrolls ( up to 90% chance)
    70 self buffed twf ac, 76 self buffed s+b, 84 raid buffed
    tier 3 defender stance+ divine riteousness hate generation.
    Trash mob intimidate

    Stats (34 point)
    13 con for a 32 point build, drop str on a 28.

    16 strength+5 level+1 exceptional+2 tome+6 item= 32 (36)
    15 dex+2 tome+7 spectral gloves=24
    14 con+1 human adaptability+6 item+3 tome= 24 (28)
    11 int+2 tome
    8 wis
    14 charisma+3 enhancements+1 adabtability+2 tome+7 item+1 exceptional= 28

    Neck: very swappable, torc for sp, shintao, silver flame, or golden cartouche for 2 chaosblades
    Cloak: Concordant Opposition: 10 hit points, 1 strength skills, 150 spell points, 5 charisma skills
    Belt: Defender of siberys
    Hands: Epic spectral/titan
    Feet: Epic golden greaves w/ resist 4 or Boots of the innocent

    I like what you're thinking here. Hope it works out well.

    Just curious: If you factor in +3 tomes instead of +2, wouldn't it be better to start with a 15STR and 15CHA? Thus keeping yourself at STR 32 (36), and putting yourself in the zone for DM III with a +3 tome?

    That's a pretty good idea, I normally prefer to use +2/4 tomes in my end gear out, since high + tomes are usually something that you just hope to get but not count on. I've only got 1 20th to check before I tr (shroud), but starting with 15 str as compared to 16 could be interesting. That would leave my helm swappable to the red dragon if I ever get a +4 str tome allowing me to actually hit the same max strength, I'll give that some more thought.
