    Default Running With the Devils

Can someone please explain, how with dungeon scaling that a duo of a Level 17 Barbarian and Level 16 Favored Soul are not able to beat the named Tiefling on normal? The one before the final 4 fight when you open that last room. The Favored Soul unloaded 4 full bars of spell points with searing light, barbarian was beating on him with a +5 metalline greataxe while raging and never did he get below the final 1/3 of his health.

With Dungeon Scaling should this not be an even easier fight?

He self heals a lot and has cold iron + evil DR (i.e. you need a MinII to bypass). I'd still have a thought a fully
raged, hasted barb using something like an axiomatic burst X of GCOB should be able to out DPS his heals.
Was the FvS fully spec'ed for Searing light? If not, better to melee or BB/Cometfall.
He is a pain in the ass though.

    1. The barb was using a **** weapon. Can't say (since the change to transmuting) I've ever bothered trying to beat his DR with a metaline.
    2. It isn't a tiefling, it is an eladrin. Chaotic as I recall so use axiomatic.

That won't work. No evil in a Min II.

    Default weapon selection

i would do some research & get the barb a better weapon

also, a wf wiz or sor is a better duo-team for a wf barb

    good luck

That guy is a huge pain for most groups, as healing does not scale down from dungeon scaling.

Basically, his heals do the same amount in a 6 person group as they do for one person.

I was able to run N-H-E solo on my monk for favor and stone pieces without too much trouble (Except for a lot of zig-zagging and running for light beam dodging on elite. Those ghales are a freaking pain)

Here's the trick for that boss: Bring a Dark monk. =)
The Dark/Dark/Dark finisher curses the enemy for the following: 25% weakness to negative energy, 50% less effect from healing, -25% fortification.

    Important part in bold.

I ran that Solo on my Monk. I spent 15 minutes beating on that guy. We were locked in a stalemate (I couldn't get him below 2/3 before he healed up, and with Healing curse he couldn get me below 3/4). It was rather entertaining. Eventally I got a guildie to come in and help out. The other 4 guys went down quick (+2 Holy of GEOB wraps). But that guy was just interesting.

Magic is a curious thing; full of hope and promise one minute, then someone summons a t-rex jet fighter to kill you.

All Greensteel Weapons are, by their very nature, Evil Aligned.

As others have said, weapon selection would make a big difference. Another is to just beat him down with the barb before wasting any of the caster's juice. You should be able to get him down to about half before the nuking needs to start. It would probably be more mana efficient to use bb instead of searing. Trick there is to lay down a couple because the damage from one bb alone will just be healed too quickly by him to be effective.

Same here - light monk 20 tried soloing, but faced the same stalemate. Picked up some chaotic outsider bane handwraps (couldn't find greater chaotic bane at the time) which, along with unbalancing strike coupled with Tharne's, was able to whittle him down on normal with a cleric in the instance who needed flagged. I had the cleric do nothing to see if the bane would be the small difference and it was. Still takes a while - it is a battle of attrition due to his healing.

That won't work. No evil in a Min II.
also tried using aspect of lightning 2 greatsword, immune to all elemental effects. electric, cold, fire and acid all displayed immuned. Metalline was doing the most consistant damage.

And let me say it can be beaten by lower toons.

Was on my Sorc and a guildy on his monk. Took 11 majors but i ran that sucker outta mana Then he went down quick.

    It seems endless, its not....

(we were both lvl 15s...and 2 manned it which is nothing to speak of.)

Mobs never run out of mana. Perhaps he just got bored.

Drop a BB around the tree in the room where you fight him (not the final boss room, the one before with the door.)

Try to have the BB almost touching the tree then run him around the tree. He should take dmg twice for every lap. Max, Emp, Extend, with potency item and all that cause it'll take more than one BB to drop him. That's how I did it on my cleric.

It's cheesey, but effective, so I use it.

Same thing with the end fight, drop 4 BB's around the tree in the middle and start racing around! Again, super lame but effective.

With BB placement, leave enough room in between for 2 mob widths to enusre the adjacent blades do not cancel out.

Were you raged, barb raged and frenzied? Haste? GH? Not a tough fight with dungeon scaling on normal. Make sure you had your buffs and were properly geared for your level. Twitching helps a ton. A lvl 16 clr could solo this before scaling. Sounds like you were missing some/all of the above.

    A) Not a Tiefling. He's an Eladrin.
    B) Dungeon Scaling does not properly scale mob regen rates. This is a known issue.
    C) Your not bypassing DR with the barb.
