I have an offensive casting/healing fvs that I am leveling. At level 18 (soon) I plan on wearing an upgraded Regalia of the Phoenix just for the greater evocation focus. It's way easier and cheaper than a black scale robe.
Now I was thinking, instead of wasting all those fire damage goodies from the robe, why not put them to use? So Fire Storm is tempting me.
I never really played around with this spell on my cleric too much as he had no way to boost its power, so I just kind of forgot about it. I have since TR'ed my cleric, so I have no way of cheaply testing this spell for myself.
I do understand that I only get 3 level 8 spells, but with some swapping around I think I could squeeze it into my spell book if its fun.
I also understand that a lot of end game mobs are fire immune. But my 20 sorc still seems to use his firewall in plenty of spots.
And I understand that Blade Barrier will continue to be my bread and butter.
So I guess what I am asking is whether or not this spell is fun to throw around? My fvs is high wisdom, double evocation focused, and as I said will be wearing this robe. He also has a Skiver in his offhand. (praise to the ah + purple coins + my 20 monk, or I would have never gotten him a skiver )
What kind of damage will Fire Storm be doing with this gear? What is the fun factor of the spell? Is it worth the spell swapping hassle?
Thanks.
EDIT: I just realized the Skiver means nothing for this spell anyway as the robe will have major fire lore on it. See why its tempting me?
