Default Windows 7 Basic Colour Scheme

When I launch DDO from a shortcut I can get to the server select and it will appear to proceed but a black screen flickers up for a moment and then a notification tells me that Windows has reverted to Windows 7 Basic Colour scheme as a running program was not compatible with what it was running before. If I then go to open the launcher again it will load up fine and I can play as normal. It's rather annoying to keep launching twice when I want to play. Ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Default

Go to the folder "My Documents > Dungeons and Dragons Online"

    Open the file "UserPreferences.ini"

    Look for the line "AllowDesktopCompositing=False"

    Change it to "AllowDesktopCompositing=True"

DDO will now run with the Aero theme going.

    Default Thanks

Thank you for the response. I am going to try this when the maintenance ends. It seems a lot of users are having similar issues but don't get the same message about colour schemes as I do.

Thanks! This worked for me in Win 7 64-bit. Just make sure the game is not open/running while you change and save the value, otherwise it will be changed back to "false" automatically.

    Default Squiggly screen

I was getting the windows 7 color scheme incompatible message, but instead of a black screen, i got a compressed screen of colors instead. Lots of squiggly lines. Made the alterations necessary to run Aero, but no change, The game is thus unplayable since there is no image definition whatsoever. Any suggestions on how to fix this (basically looks like an old tube tv when the tubes fried).
