sniper II could have an additional multiplier to the critical. With more requirements on the spot hide and move silently skills.
have more bonuses to the criticals for when motionless - certainly not for a zerging group, but a sniper is not a zerger, anyway. The longer one remains hidden, the better the bonus on the crit. In theory, like Role Master's open ended role, the bonus on a crit could get very high. Almost like the current sniper shot, only in reverse. The wait is before the shot, not after the shot, like getting into position, staying, studying, then getting that perfect shot or two
Sniper III could have something similar to the AA with their almost endless supply of vorpal arrows, with a one-shot one-kill, even on end bosses.
Or at least have a store where the sniper can buy arrows of slaying.

IDK, but DWS seems pretty dead to me.
The #1 new problem with DWS, imo, (as if there weren't enough already), is that arcane archer is considered a ranger PrE, even if you take it as a racial "elven" arcane archer instead of as a ranger arcane archer.
This means that even if you are an elf it is absolutely verboten to be both an AA and DWS. This means that in order to take any DWS a ranged ranger has to give up all hope of AA regardless or race.
What could they possibly do with DWS II to make it even noticeable compared to AA? (Unlimited free +5 slayer arrows with multishot vs ???)
I think Deepwood is going to be difficult to balance, and its not entirely due to AA.
AA requires bows, and for bows to be even moderately effective a non-ranger needs a lot of feats. A Ranger gets most free, and only really needs IC: Ranged for DPS (the AA pre-reqs aren't terrible, but not important either).
DWS will be "weapon agnostic," which means it will work with all ranged weapon types. And that means it will work with the (prior to AA) best ranged DPS weapon around: the repeater xbow. Which itself requires Exotic Proficiency, Rapid Reload, and IC: Ranged.
I'm curious to see how they design DWS to be useful with throwing knives, axes, and bows, and yet which doesn't make the Repeater Xbow the ultimate ranged weapon (once again).
Well, slayer arrows are not vorpal - at least not at lvl 18, when you get the imbue. It's true that some trash mobs, even in lvl 20 q's, die from 500 dmg, but it's not even near the majority. The good thing about the imbue though, is that it does work on end bosses, unlike real vorpal.
From what I read from the developers, it sounds like they plan to work on one class at a time when it comes to prestige enhancements. Which is a little confusing since they actually worked on two class prestige enhancements last update (Wizard's pale master and Ranger's AA).
Anyway, I doubt deepwoods sniper will ever stack up to the arcane archer, but I'm sure there is a lot they can do to make it useful, which the first tier enhancement really isn't. I thinking what they'll probably do with the deepwoods sniper is add sneak attack damage to the arrows, hopefully with a way to reliably deliver that sneak attack damage.

they could make dws more situational. which would make it different from AA but not exactly like it. like homing missles, firing first few arrows remaining stealthed, blunt arrows, maybe an attack that guarantees a critical(headshot), traps(cool for defend this item/location quests), increased stealth, maybe a knockback ranged attack, able to attack enemies stealthed without being noticed by other enemies close by?
oh and maybe make dws sniper more animal/pet friendly? something like a hunter IRL. make the summoned more controllable, stay here options, attack this specific mob, protect me/this area, pull aggro. this way charisma isn't a total dump stat for rangers and would make interesting solo runs. seperate health bar so you know its hp without having to check by focusing all the time.
just throwing out ideas.
i dont know much about DWS but i think it would be beneficial and make more sense if it became a situational type of class.
