DQ2 raid today. A player said the lowest level should loot the chest because it affects the odds of good loot droppage. Also, whoever had the longest timer opens affects it.
New rumor? I've read so many threads on this subject and never heard this one.

I've also heard that if you spin around three times, jump once while holding a book in your hand, then sit down shouting "The cloud is falling!" at the top of your lungs, you're guaranteed a +5 Exceptional Tome of Ability.

No no no. I'm on a raid timer on a non-capped toon. You're starting to mix up your superstitions. If you're on a capped toon or not on a raid timer, you have to say the sky is vomiting. Now you ruined my chances of the chest dropping a +5 Tome. Originally Posted by Guildmaster_Kadish

I always like to intimidate the chest first, then haggle with it......then i bluff it into giving me what i want !

You obviously got your facts wrong.... you're supposed to run around the chest3 times counter-clockwise, toss a grease on the chest to loosen up the lock on the special loots and then in open chat, type: In thy name loot god i beseech thee! After which you count to 10 (remember the chest is recovering from that grease) and spam diplomacy as many times as possible. more diplomacy = better loot. I have seen a marked increase in the time spent in quests using this method. i would post screenshots if my lewt werent so HUGE.

Vive la France!
I was in a Tempest Spine Raid and our leader somehow talked all twelve of us into waiting for him to diplo the chests. I thought wasn't worth arguing over so I obliged. But at the end, he fell off the cliff and we waited for him to run back to the top.
A fire elemental killed him. We sent down the cleric. After a long wait, he appeared, diploed the chests and promised us that we would NOT be disapointed.
We looted. Everyone was quiet. And then a guy said with a heavy French accent said condesendingly "Ha! So much for the "uber loot!""
I dunno if he was really French or not, but comedically? C'est magnifique!!
