Default Solo Cleric Build - thoughts

First time out doing this stuff, so let me know. Hope any mistakes aren't critical!

I am hoping this is the proper place for this, I am new to DDO character planning and such. Here is what I have

Lvl: 5 Cleric/1 Paladin (about to level with 6 action points saved) Dwarf

STR 17 (boosted to 21 via gear)
    DEX 10
CON 17 (boosted to 19 via gear)
    INT 10
WIS 17 (boosted to 18 via gear)
CHA 6 (not focusing on turning)

    Feats:
    Spell Penetration
    Maximize Spell

    Attribute Raised:
    Str 1x
(Planning to raise WIS and CON to 18 either via enhancements or Attribute Raises)

    Skills Raised:
    Concentration, Balance and Spot

Aim, mainly to have fun while being able to solo if needed with the intention of being a battle cleric. Am I heading in that direction and if not, where am I heading? Was planning on maxing Spell Penetration and Healing Spells when possible while not ignoring Axe Dmg/Mastery and Poison/Spell Resistance.

First thing that is jumping out at me is your feat selection. Spell pen is something not really needed until mid to higher levels, and if you plan on being a true BC, you're probably going to need a few melee feats. I would definitely dump that for toughness.

Actually, before I get too deep in this, look at the thread directly below this with a great solo focused cleric build. Try to adapt that as much as possible. There's about a million things you're going to miss. A BC or solo focused cleric needs to be well planned.
There is no lag. Just because you had none before and can't play now doesn't mean the server move had anything to do with it.

As always, no need to re-invent the wheel. Check out Sirgog's builds.

So should I reroll, or just be more focused here on out?

I say just reroll to save on costs for feat swaps/lesser reincarnation. It won't take much time to get to level 6.

Read Sirgog, but that said, here's a few pointers..

If you are going for offensive casting and want spell penetration, its taken much later as said, but regardless, you need to be putting everything into wisdom or there really is no point to it. You will just be slightly better at being not as good as a dedicated offensive caster.

Take Toughness. Take any enhancement that goes with it.

If you want to splash a lvl or possibly two of melee, theres not a whole lot of point to it unless you dedicate yourself to it. Ranger, Barb, Fighter, and Paladin all give you access to better weaponry, but its pointless if you cant hit the mobs. So points into strength. Ranger skills seem tempting at first lvl, but you can easily make do with even just 2 pts per lvl and secondary bonuses on common items, so by lvl 10 its not worth it. As well, the SP bonus from taking Ranger or Paladin is a drop in the bucket even in midgame with decent gear, so Fighter really stands out for the free feat(s). Barb rage is counterproductive and a waste of time later in the game. Monk is a whole nother story..

Dont throw points into dex. It makes it a tiny bit easier in the beginning (not really, korthos is a cakewalk), but you will find dex items and tomes before very long. Wasted points, put them into boosting wis, str, or con, depending on your build.

I like a 10 in int personally, cuz its nice to have more than just concentration maxed, but you dont need spot. Max con of course, balance is good especially if you are going the melee route, and since you have a third, it should be UMD.

Of course, be judicial with your build points. Try to focus on one thing and maybe shore up another spot, rather than to push in three or more directions at once. This could mean not taking ten int if you are human, for example. Depends on your builds goals..

Oh and take toughness. Take any enhancement that goes with it. And get fortification items asap (except from korthos, there you definitely want the mana clicky necklace).

    Good luck! =)
