I keep thinking it would be cool if Thieves' could Pick Pockets and Climb Walls. Maybe I'm just nostalgic, but why on earth can't they?
The city environments in DDO still feel lifeless to me. Recently, ladders were added for the Easter Egg Hunt, and I nearly lept with joy at the thought of Thieves' running from the City Guard across the rooftops. Now that's adventure! For God's sake, leave the ladders there after the Hunt is over!
I think the game would benefit enormously if Thieves' (or other Characters, albeit with less chance of success) could climb up walls, pipes, ropes with grappling hooks, etc., and break into little mini-quests all over the place (possibly random generating mini-dungeons of sorts.) And, then have to worry about the City Watch kicking their butts for it. You could have whole quest lines around Jail and what it meant to go there.
Thieves might well have to worry even more about getting caught by other Characters, in which case a challenge could ensue in a public arena- with the victor taking the spoils. Only unsecured items could be vulnerable to such an attempt, btw - so, as in life, the victim would be wise to secure their items, and those they were in too much of a hurry to secure would be most vulnerable, just like in real life.
And while I'm thinking about it - there's nothing IN doing a PVP Challenge, really. There should be the ability to wager items or gold, as well as some type of formal 'Pit Fighting' league with rankings for each level, etc. PVP-ing is great fun, there's just no real reason to do it. If nothing else, buying the food to heal up means PVP-ing just costs gold and never gives any. Doesn't that just seem wrong?
Lastly - Cloaks. Horses. Druids. 'Nuff said.
This game is a freaking Masterpiece, and just a couple more touches would bring it SO close to the experience of playing D&D Pen 'n Paper, which I've done for 20+ years. Thanks very much for the effort you guys put into it. I signed up for free and have spent hundreds of dollars because it kicks so much butt. It's money well-spent.
