Cool George RR Martin's Game of Thrones HBO Series

I'm mega happy about this news; though I couldn't find a general non DDO channel to post about it.

I think it's gonna be good. Epic Fantasy fans rejoice! This series would also make a brilliant MMO.

I hope it sticks to the books, but really, I think that would be near impossible. But I am hoping!

Especially since the books aren't yet finished and don't seem to be coming any time soon. Watch him die, just like whatshisname... Jordan. (Ugh. I can't believe I just compared Martin and Jordan. Someone shoot me.)

Peter Dinklage as Tyrion. There's a step in the right direction at least.

Oh and there is an off topic forum.

    Smile Game of Thrones Miniseries

Maybe HBO is doing this because of how great The Tudors was on Showtime.

Anyway, I'm definitely gonna watch the series, and I wish Martin would get the next book finished. Methinks he gets too bogged down with the other stuff he does like Wild Cards.

Yeah, really looking forward to this. Still won't purchase television service, though, nor HBO. Either the Internet or wait for it to come out on DVD for me! I expect great things from this series.

The person directing the pilot at least also directed a really good movie called The Station Agent, also with Peter Dinklage. The cast is great! Hopefully it'll be hard to screw up.

Please dont let it be "Legend of the Seeker" Martin styled. It is HBO, rather than free first run syndication, so there is some hope.

I just checked out the cast list on the link. It looks cool but it has been so long since the last book, I was looking at the characters and trying to remember who is still alive, lol.
    Conn Niall Paladin
    Cormac Mac Airt Ranger/Rogue
If it is a Paladin with some version of Conn.... it is probably me.

Start with 'None' and work your way back from there.

I can't believe how long it's been since the last book. Ugh. At least I can gain strength in the knowledge that David Gerrold's War against the Chtorr book 5 will be out soon.

What? Wait... since 1994??? Still no sign of completion..... Holy Carp!

Funny, I was in the book store just last night and saw another new book with his name on it.. That Still Isn't The Next In The Series.....

I mean, a show could be great (could), but advancing the series could also be important, right?

    (just sayin...)

    Default Boycott GRRM !!1

We should all take part in a full scale boycott of any GRRM product until he finishes the books.

Buying or looking at any product of his other than the next SOFAI book will just encourage him to stroke his ego with more comics/random book series/celebrity publishings/gen con appearances/tv shows/puppet dances/radio programs/mime re-enactments etc.

edit: but yeah this should rock, thanks for the post.

Game of Thrones was one of the best fantasy novels ever, IMO! Unfortunately, I really didn't like the most recent book in the series (Feast of Crows, I think?) I must have Martin finish the series, but I admit that I'm preparing for a bit of disappointment.

George Martin is the poster child for Soon™.

I hold hope for the series.

I was somewhat surprised by Legend of the Seeker. I thought it would suck much worse than it does. It's actually not bad for some mindless tv time.
