    Default multiclass question

    Hello,
I am a lvl 13 cleric looking to take a lvl of fighter for my next level. Is there a general guide to multi-classing around? One of the questions I have is; I recently did a feat exchange for martial weapon proficiency, falchion. What happens to that when I take the fighter level? Will I be given 1 extra feat to choose, or do I lose it? Should I exchange that before i take the level?
    Thanks

a general guide to multiclassing? I'm not sure that exists.

Taking 2 levels of fighter on a melee-focused cleric is a popular thing to do.

When you take a level of fighter, you gain proficiency in all martial weapons. Therefor your chosen feat wouldn't do anything. Exchange it before you level

In my opinion, it was a bad idea to get weapon proficiency falchion before you became a fighter (if you already DID become one). I'm pretty sure you get weapon proficiency falchion automatically when you become a fighter. It would have been better if you chose a feat that was good for clerics instead of fighters... in my opinion.

I took the proficiency for a level to see If liked playing with a THW. I decided that If I like it, I would take a level as a fighter. It will only end up costing me 2 dragonshard ($2) and like 40k plat. That is a small price compared to a lesser heartwood +1 to change classes back to pure cleric if I didnt like it.

Just in case if you needed, here's excellent guide of multiclassing

And I'd like you to remember that multiclassing is all about trading off benefits from staying pure class.
If you killing mobs via blade barrier more than swinging weapons, then think twice before taking fighter level.

I know it's depends on your character. Taking fighter class may vital to you.
But usually if you multiclass without plan that done before rolling character wont end up with positive result.

    Just my 2 cent.
English is not my primary language, so please excuse my grammar and spelling
