Actually, having 20 rogue is not really the optimum build for trap-disabling I think, mainly because multiclassing is practically required to get enough reflex saves for some higher level traps.

But back to the point, there are traps and doors which requires a high level of disable device or pick lock. (and some which requires a high reflex save as well to actually be able to disable the trap) However it's generally good advice to not purely focus on trapsmithing alone, since most people would want the rogue to contribute to DPS regardless. (and that a pure trapsmithing rogue is not as fun as a rogue which deals damage regardless)
    Thelanis - Kyrnis 16 Wiz / 2 Rogue (trap/locksmith)
    Thelanis - Kyrven Blade 20 FvS (melee/heal)
Thelanis - Kyrse 20 Monk (dark) (current main)

1 lvl of rogue is really enough to make good in all trapsmithing skills if you got enough INT. A 1rgr/19wiz is in no worse disabling traps than a pure rogue is.

2nd lvl of rogue gives you evasion, so most with rogue splah builds take it at lvl 10.

All other rogue levels improve your rogish fighting abilities (backstabbing) not so much your trap skills.

Only exception is Vault of Night 5 in Epic mode, for this you need an (almost) pure rogue with a compeltly gimped build which more or less just can do this quest well Its not even played much on Epic, as most dive through this in normal to play VON 6 in epic.

Edit: almost forget when you consider multiclassing on a rogue always remember to take rogue as your first lvl.
