    Default help with build (18clr/1rog/1ftr)

    My wife and I have started playing and I am looking to roll a cleric that is balanced (can melee, can heal, and can cast some offensive spells) and can find and open traps - she is rolling a tempest ranger than can open locks. The idea being that we can duo any dungeon and still contribute to group play. This is where I am at with the current build, any advice is apperciated.

    About the level split, you're missing out on evasion, which is IMHO a shame since you are splashing your cleric already, I'd take a second rouge level for that.

    I don't see your search skill maximized which is a must, since unless you can search the traps box, you cannot disable it at all. Put at least a few skills into OpenLock, since at level 1 you shuold have tons of skillpoints anyway.

    If your wife has a rogue splash already on a ragnger, id take the other route and drop rogue from your cleric and take e.g. 2 fighter levels. So you can get THF. She should be able to max out all trap skills on the ranger since the ranger gets more skills per level and has search and spot as class skills.

    That's similar to something I built for a guildie. I'll post it here so you can look at it for reference if you'd like.

    For 32-point (which I see you have, yay! ), I'd raise the DEX up some for a better Reflex Save. Or more STR.

    Theres no reason a Rogue splashed Ranger cant do Locks AND traps....

    I just tweaked her build (added more int) so she could do both, she really wanted UMD as well. Now I'll make one of the more standard battle cleric builds. Which puts me back to the choice of either a the 19clr/1ftr or a 18clr/2ftr. Is losing the extra spells and spell penetration by only taking 18 cleric levels going to make a siginificant difference end game for landing offensive spells? I do want the ability to solo.

    Since you're already splashing, I'd recommend getting Evasion.

    You said Battle Cleric, so I'm guessing that most of your SP will go towards healing and buffing, making Spell Penetration mainly a non-issue. The biggest end-game lose I think would be Energy Drain.
