    Default Pale Master?

I went to DDO wiki, and checked out the pale master prestige enhancement. Am I reading this right? Something like 21 enhancement points to fully unlock all the prestige enhancement powers, in addition to 4 required feats, and all the enhancement points necessary to meet the other prerequisites? Is this even remotely worth it? Can the skeletons even do a decent job tanking?

yes, it takes far too much stuff.

    no, it's not worth it.

no, they can't tank at all.

yes, it's riddled with bugs that make it even worse than it looks on paper.

I've had a miss pleasure of running with a pale master when a 1/2 guild group decided to pug to fill up... Now I'm not trying to say this is a stereotype of the class, but they were quiet useless. Always in melee range so was taking more damage then they should as a caster. Wasn't very useful as a caster. And going into a undead mode (wraith I think?) would almost always end in a death due to not letting the healer (FvS) know before the quest to have inflict, and not warning the group when entering the mode to make sure they don't gain agro and die. (also summoning a arcane skeleton beside the rest shrine when have the group is resting is not a smart move)

Overall, Useless PrE as is. If I run with another and its as bad as this experience of someone playing one, I know I'll be avoiding them all together until the PrE is fixed

I've got mine up to level 7 so far.. the skeleton knight circles his opponent endlessly, only occasionally swinging, the skeleton archer is better, at least it stands and shoots most of the time, until something comes up and tries to melee it, after which the archer goes all kobold shaman and tries to hop up the wall behind it. The arcane skeleton summon is not quite useless, but it runs out of SP in a big hurry, so don't expect one to be your faithful minion for very long. (actually, it'll still be your minion, it'll just be reduced to attempting to punch opponents while circling like the knight)

The arcane would actually be fairly useful if it didn't have such a limited SP pool. I understand, we're getting a double handful of spells cast for 10 SP and 10 HP, which on paper is mana-efficient, but he doesn't carry a potency item and he doesn't have enhancements, so his spells really aren't all that. I've pretty much given up on him in favor of the archer, who at least sticks around a while.

As far as going lich or wraith, I think a smart pale master would use them wisely. Use the wraith form to sneak, for instance, not because you think the 25% incorporal miss chance will make you somehow more invulnerable than displacement.

Generally, I think as it stands now, the PrE is more flavor than utility. So no, not "worth" the feats and AP unless you just really think it's cool to raise skeletons.

Actually, one thing that would go a long ways to make this better would be to allow us to brew inflict wounds potions. Maybe using cure potions and the stone of change and some other, dark, icky ingredients.

The only good part is Lich mode stat bonus for spells like Finger of Death, and that benefit isn't close to covering what you lose in AP.

Here is a thread I did about what Pale Master could have been

It is new, so people will try it.

I ran with one during Delera's tomb, and I spent half my time trying to kill the summons lol.

My healing dragonmarked wizzy won't touch it with a force lance. Good to know I am not missing out on anything.
