    Default Greensteel Question

I am using Junts guide for TWF Drow Paladin

Would this be a good Greensteel weapon to shoot for? Are the material too hard to get or should I be going for something different?

    Greensteel Item +5 Greensteel Rapier
Tier 1 Effect Shock 1d6, Electricity
    Tier 2 Effect Good Burst
Tier 2 Bonus Effect Aspect Of Lightning
    Chain Lightning (2/day)
    Tier 3 EffectShock Blast
Tier 3 Bonus Effect Aspect of Lightning II, Lightning blast
On-Hit Chance to Strike with Lightning Bolt ~600-650 Damage Reported Testing

I have seen Junts speak about lightning weapons being good for DPS paladins. Junts if you can respond, was this type of weapon you were speaking of?

I think the first greensteel a paladin should make is a triple pos. Single shard so you don't need to grind real bad to get enough for a double shard. With the rapier the blasts would go off a decent amount.

I thought the theory was a Pali's holy weapon was pretty much a GS weapon in power?

lorien has it right. the holy weapon is close to just about any GS weapon. spend your precious, precious ingredients on an item that will give you AC, STR, CON, Con-op, whatever you need, but not a GS weapon.

    (from Junts' paladin primer: http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=218542)

Many people don't understand holy sword. The spell's tooltip is uninformative, and it once was far less effective than it is now...

Holy swords have the following statistics:

    +5 enhancement
Holy Burst (2d6 per hit, 3d6/4d6/5d6 on crit)
Silver, Cold Iron and Byeshk all at once
Static Protection from Evil effect on the user when wielded
Permanent until logout (they will vanish when you have been off-line for around 15 minutes)

These weapons are of similar caliber to Mineral 2 crafted weapons for raid boss purposes. They will break all demon and devil DRs and do similar damage to the crafted alternative (generally, the Mineral2 is .25%-.5% better, which is a negligible difference). For this reason, paladins who can get their preferred weapon in Holy Sword are not limited by the need to craft their raid-boss weapons.

I would go one of three ways:

    1. Triple earth - earth ele and earth grab - for the third tier you could go for insight, if you are ac speced, or you just go for dps. Like stated above its only a single shard and easier to grind and makes a nice off hand weapon for the end game content - ie. earth grab works great in epic - earthgrab = crits

    2. Min II - Its a must have for most builds, but not really for a Pali because of the whole holy weapon thingy.

    3. Radiance II - its a great weap that is very useful.

I personally would skip on a Lit II, or a trip pos weap on a pali. The proc rate on Lit II is low and easy to make up via other methods for dps and I'm just not a fan of trip pos.

Anyway that you go lets know how it works out for you and Good luck.

Thanks for the input, I went Paladin as a new player because of the Holy Weapon so really looking for a general DPS weapon that would be good against a large variety of other mobs. I had come to understand that lightning is very good against a large number of creatures. Is that true of lightning?

I was strongly considering radiance II as well.

Shock damage works against a wide variety of mobs, however I'm just not a huge fan of a dual shard with such a low proc rate.

Listed and researched proc rates and effects - http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=176176

Thank you for the link, is Radiance less of a grind? I think rapier threat range w\Radiance could be good.

Its not really any less or more of a grind than most dual shard gs. I agree with your assement of the crit range and Raidiance II, I know quite a few rogs with that set up.

You're welcome, on the link, I love that thread.

I made some Air/Air/Air HP goggles nad I'm happy with them.

As I was thinking about what kind of weapon to make, I ended up deciding to save the Larges for an Alt and for a second item (Concordant Opposition) once I get 20 Shroud runs.
