What items to improve my firewall and acid blast?

Hi all

Just started a sorcerer not long ago and finally got my Wall of Fire. Now, I am trying to make the fire burn more. Other than taking all the related enhancements, I am looking at improving my equipment. So what is the best items for a lv 8 sorceror to have in order to provide the max pain to enemies?

Questions:
1. Does holding an evocation focus item improve damage on WoF?
2. Does having an item which improves critical chance stacks with your enhancement on improve criticals of your seplls?

No - but it makes it harder for the mob to make a Saving Throw for lesser damage.

Yes, items will stack with enhancements.


You should also try to get a set of weapons with Potency and Lore on them. The Potency item will boost all damage of a certain spell-level and under.

Superior Inferno IV pots from the arcane shop in House P if you can afford them. Otherwise I'd suggest buying a number of the Greater Inferno IV pots from The Portable Hole that are a darn sight cheaper.

The superior pots add +75% damage, the greater pots add +45% damage. Greater pots are cheap enough that you just punch one when you need a little extra kick before you get your Superior Combusion/Potency Item... the superior inferno pots on the other hand are something you'll keep around for a good long time.

I usually punch one when I'm burning down something with obscene amounts of hitpoints... like Sinvala from Mired in Kobolds. Having a crit wall land and deal ~400 per tick and pass through to a non-undead is good stuff.

Acid Blast does, and that was part of the OP's question.

Although, a Evocation focus item would not help out an Acid Blast spell... you'd need Conjuration focus.

Also, as far as I can work out, you need a clicky for acid blast. You can't buy erosion pots which go high enough.

Yeah I don't understand why we have acces to all dmg bonus pots but the acid ones. Stops at lvl 2 or something.

And I agree that until you get your sup potency/ Spell pen/ Lore set, you can simply buy pots in your teens. If you're low on cash, get efficacy pots to improves all of you spells. Duration time and bonus are lower however.

Just guessing here but since there is only a Superior Erosion II potion on the Phiarlan vendor, they were added at a time where Melf's Acid Arrow was the only acid spell so there was no need for an Erosion I or III potion.
