    Default **** Lightning

    I just switched in Chain Lightning to give it a whirl since there's quite a bit of talk about it being 'fixed'.

    Unfortunately, it worked for me something in the region of 1 in 20 times. I have read a couple of other threads on chain lightning, and tried my best to do all the actions suggested (cast while jumping so there is clear LoS to target, do not let anything get between me and target) to no avail. I have been trying the spell on some mobs in the Vale and even had around 10 spiders chasing me at one time. Even then the spell hit only 1 target which was so disappointing.

    Am I doing something wrong? Or is the spell still bugged and not really worth the time?

    I have seen improved cases of it not fizzling completely (no damage to anything) but I have seen absolutely no improvement in its ability to actually chain to other targets (basically I use it like polar ray, now, and never as an AOE).

    Why don't I have the trouble getting this spell to chain that others do? I guess Turbine might have a little bit more work to do on it. Bug report it.

    Bad thing is when undead wizards cast chain lightening it has no problem hitting me and everyone else in my party...

    I have had really good luck getting it to chain for me in shavarath content. Works 90% when I have a clear line of sight.

    Indeed, I made a thread myself on this very subject a short while ago. I think you also stated that you had more
    trouble in Shavarath? I postulated that teleporting mobs increase the 'unreliability' of the chaining effect.

    I think increasing the casting speed (to what a sorceror should get) may also help with this.

    I've bugged this again recently, I'd suggest everyone who experiences issues bugs it as well.

    Thanks for the replies guys. I'm still having trouble getting this to chain. Might give it a few more days before I regretfully swap it back out for Acid Fog or something.

    Anyway, here's my info:

    1. Human
    2. Tried both hard target and soft target (jumping and no jumping)
    3. Keyboard

    I find this spell works fine if u do it properly, that is u have to hard target and be in direct like of sight with the target, there cannot be another mob or obstacle between u and ur hard target.

    It's another spell like meteor swarm that takes some finesse to use.

    I can do it that way and still NOTHING else is hit. Single target. Electric Loop hits more targets. So instead of saying it works fine when the rest of us are not, why not edit your post with same data we have but denote that you CAN hit multiple targets.

    I posted my character that can't (dark elf), and I posted my wife's two characters that can (2 halflings). Please give us more data to work with.

    I agree fully. Drow Sorc, 30 cha, good gear experienced player:
    I was very excited to get Chain Lightning hoping to see it fixed. I immediately set forth to test it out (I chose "Walk the

    Butcher's Path" due to the close proximity of the mobs as I was hoping to test out the full chaining effect.)
    After blowing out about 500 SP I managed to kill about 3 kobalds. How incredibly, utterly pathetic. I switched to Ball lightning and nailed about 12 in a group.

    This settled it for me: even on worthless mobs, Chain lighting was absolutely useless, it either didn't hit or when it hit didn't chain (even in Walk the path when the mobs are so bunched up it should be "easy" to chain) I wouldn't dare try this out in places that I'm used to running like Madstone or Crucible. Well only three more days and I can say Goodbye to the worst spell in my book.

    Even if Turbine says they change this spell I will -never- get it again. Just not worth it.
