My Videos Shadow Mage (ok, it's a build now)
A forum post should be like a skirt - long enough to cover the subject material, but short enough to keep things interesting.
Britches and Hose kidnapped my dog and are forcing him to farm Shroud ingredients.
WF make great monks! and preety much great anything! The immunities etc. have no substitute, and the docents are amazing!
Not to mention as a capped WF monk you lose the only weakness WF posses= rust monster food.
Well, what do you mean by "big hits?" My WF Monk is VERY survivable (517 HPs with only one Toughness FEAT) and can hit pretty hard. Please note I said "pretty" hard not "awesomely" hard or even "really" hard. With a good Warchanter in the party, I've seen the first number of my critical hits reach as high as 110 or so which I think is pretty nice. He's got a 26 Str normally and I'm in Ultimate Wind Stance at ALL times.
If you want to do really BIG hits, you can still survive with good hitpoints. You're just going to have to sacrifice something and that's usually going to be DEX or WIS.
Good luck!
Yes, you're correct. I was thinking of the Weighted property on Handwraps not currently adding to Stunning Fist DCs. I will fix my post.
Thanks for pointing out my error.
+1 for you.
Listen to Arkat, he is a great and knowledgable player. My Tr'ed monk is WF this go round and he's only level 7. I have seen what a good 20th level WF monk can do and I have seen good 20th level Human minks which are good in their own right, same thing with halflings. As last I checked I was still prefering WF and Human, although I really like the WF monk. I will make a better determination once my guy levels up more.
Ytm
I really was hoping it would affect the regular strikes like eagle, unbalancing etc, knew those were a stretch, but i dont see why it doesnt affect quivering palm, that was a disappointment.
I agree with Ghoste. My WF monk took Dark path, uses a myraid of good handwraps, his favorite being Devouts, Weighted 5% and his greater banes of all shapes and sizes.
HIGH str, enough Dex to take the ultimate wind stance, high con, moderate wis, dump the other two stats.
I've used this as a base for my wf monk build:
Fleshgolem - the Defiant Construct
So far, at lvl 9, he is on the light path, but the more I read about the dark path, the more I would like to persue it for the raw pummeling power.
Arkat, got an ETA on that re-write? My Wis monk is just about ready to TR, and I'd like to check out the other side of the pond, so to speak
I have a WF Dex/Wis Monk with TWF and Imp. TWF. He is currently Mnk 15/Sor 1 (self heal+wands) he seems to be doing good.
I also have a Halfling Wis/Dex TWF Mnk 5 who so far has soloed everything up to elite. I have done most of the Harblr quests on elite and the rest on hard so far, including the Waterworks stuff. Doing well so far.
I like the str version better. Trying to go Rockan Robin with WF is... naaah. Like someone
tried to put some pink ballerina dress on a WF
Why substitute lack of strength with WF PA enhancements, when you can have both?
And with a bit of tweaking your AC will be not outstanding, but ok. I managed to hit
fourty-ish self buffed right in time for GH (though I went 8/12 handwraps kensei).
Ok, I finally wrote Arkat up...
