if you cant reach certain ac threshholds for certain levels heavy armor is pretty useless unless it has some uber stats on it
at such a point you wear what gives the most benefit enhancementwise

I guess one could compare Jesus to a cleric, but as we all know clerics have poor jump
skill. This is why JC wore robes and sandals.
My cleric, however, wears FP. Because I'm not a pansy. Anyone ever saw Father Ted? Yeah, my cleric's the guy passed out in the armchair.
FP reduces alotta skills, and it doesn't help you not get hit. But I just can't put my smelly dwarf cleric in robes or an outfit.

Either wear a heavy armor or a robe.
Heavy armor gives you some AC what really doesnt matter much after like 16, but hey it doesnt cost you.
Robes give you a better Jump, swim and so on check and can be switched fast.
Light and medium are the same as heavy at a high level but before that heavy armor and a shield are the clerics best companion.
Always look what class is the toon*. Does the cleric have 1 or 2** levels of monk splash?
Probably means he took it for wisdom bonus to AC (cleric wis being already high) and swapped
on a pair of Icy Raiment, bumping his AC through the roof.
Generally, toons geared toward max AC bonus do not wear full plates.
* To check out his level, you can type /who <nick>
** 2nd level of monk would be for evasion. And then, you want your dex bonus to be high, which is not exactly possible in full plate.

Thanks guys - am lvl 11 pure cleric - got FP +3 of 75% protection
I like to break stuff and fix stuff in a group
Father Ted - Feck! Arrse! Brill!
i tend to keep medium mithril full plate on my clerics.
at times i will switch for robes for clickies but mostly i rock them in mithril full plate, and hang near the back w/ the casters doing my semi battle cleric duties to protect them
No bagging on you OP, but this was discussed about 5 topics down in the same Cleric forum.

There are a lot of things to consider about armor choices....
1. Are you building for AC? If you didn't plan on it, probably not.
2. Are you going for DR? Many people don't consider this very "useful", but if you plan on making a CO item (HP and SP recharge), DR is extremely helpful and can be helped with FP (not necessary, but can be helpful)
3 What effects do you need? Some people switch out deathblock robes, invulnerability, etc. You may have those effects on items meaning you don't need to quick switch armor.
4. Will it hurt your skills? I personally dont worry about it at all. If there's something you need to jump to that you can't reach, I just drink a pot. Normally if theres going to be a lot of jumping (Prey on the Hunter), a caster will cast it on you.
5. What's your playstyle? That's the biggest question. Find out what works for you. It's early enough in the game for you to figure it out. You may like swapping robes/outfits. You may hate it. Find out what fits your playstyle the most because that is more important than any number cruncher can explain.
There is no lag. Just because you had none before and can't play now doesn't mean the server move had anything to do with it.
