    Default duplicate MyDDO profiles

My character is Lmaonade on Ghallanda (http://my.ddo.com/character/ghallanda/lmaonade/)

When you use that link, it will give you a page not found error. When you search for me: http://my.ddo.com/characters/?sname=Lmaonade - it will give TWO results, which are both me, and both of them give the page not found error.

Seen this on a few people already.

Yes, I have this problem too.

Standard response is "MyDDO is in Beta". Are you going to fix these problems or not?

My.DDO is in Beta. That means it is in a testing state and we are working to make improvements and updates, and even potentially major changes in some cases. We're looking to see how changes affect the site, and what works. This means that some changes/updates/error research may take more time than if the site was not in Beta. I can assure you that the team in charge of the My.DDO site is aware of the "doppelganger" issue, and they are researching it, though they don't yet have a fix.

    If you look on http://ddostuff.com/myddo.aspx?world...acter=lmaonade

It says lmaonade was last updated 11/16/2009.

Definately something wrong with their updating mechanism.

They did mention that if you delete a character, and re-roll one with the same name, it can cause a lot of problems with updating. TRing might affect it as well. That may be the case here.

Sounds like a great reason for some heroic Turbine employee to go to the server that houses MyDD-slow, open the file that contains the enitre program and then hit delete... And just to be sure, they should then drive a Mac truck over it... Dont' worry Tarrant will get the blame for it

Thanks for responding. Why the hell did you add it directly into the game then? Surely, if it's still in beta, it
should not be part of the live game?.

There are several, admittedly anecdotal, threads about players game experiences being directly influenced by
this tool. Some players are being excluded or kicked from groups because of the information stored in their
MyDDO profile. At least give them a sporting chance by ensuring that the data held is current and accurate.

Sometimes Betas need to be made available to a large number of people, or even a population as a whole in order to be properly tested. The My.DDO.com Beta falls into this category so we can properly test functionality and interactions. If you don't want your characters visible, you can select the "Private" option. Also, if you know that your profile is not up to date, you can advise other players of that when chatting prior to joining a group.

Is this private option new? Previously there was no way to make your characters private. The only thing you could
do was hide the linkage between the player and the character.

I know I am flogging a dead horse however, I was not aware that (as a paying subscriber) I'd signed up to be
a beta tester for MyDDO. Is this covered by the EULA?

I guess the only way I can opt out of this is to cancel my subs? (I have two)

How about some sort of myddo "purge" or something. Like, delete all myddo profiles and let them get newly added as people log their characters. My main character has never had a working myddo profile, suffering from the duplicate problem. I reckon if the myddo database was cleared out entirely and let to add each character as if it were new... this problem would be solved.

We are talking many, many, many months of this problem with no addressing at all. It would be a nice gesture if you fellas would at least try. I know its not fair to expect problems to be solved over night, but i do think it's fair to request effort regarding the longest dated problems.

If nothing else, cant someone go ahead and manually delete characters with the duplicate problem when submitted by the players? For example, if you were to go in and delete my character from myddo, wouldnt it just get reinstalled in the database when i log in again as if it were a newly made toon?

    Give it a go,

DDO:EU itself was in beta from Feb 2006 - Sept 2009. It just happened to be called Stormreach instead.
