Audit is what you do until you can get into the consulting department or move into management in industry/the corportate world. External audit is the definition of dull work. Internal Audit can be more interesting as you get to do fraud prevention and detection work, as well as some process improvement work. It wears you down though because no one wants to see the auditor, even if you are there to help. Plus, the most interesting thing to do is fraud investigations and they always end in either no finding (dull) or you have to tell a manager that their most trusted long term employee (and thats who it is 99% of the time) has been screwing them.

Audit is a great way to learn what you will need to manage others though as it is one set of project management after another to plan and get through the audits.

In case you are wondering, Canadian accountant, Cert Int Auditor, Cert Fraud Examiner, Cert IS Auditor, and some more alphabet soup...

My title is Business Applications Specialist.

I deal with DBs, data, and according to my users anything IT related (and to some anything electronic, I get asked to fix answering machines, copiers etc. For some reason they don't call the Tech department.) I am software and DB side people! :: mutters::

In short, I make things work.

I just started a part-time job as a case manager assistant for my local Community Mental Health agency.

Along with that, I am a certified Musikgarten educator and have a side business teaching early childhood music classes, leading children's music programs for libraries and birthday parties, and teaching private lessons in piano, guitar, and flute.

For the past several months I have been working on an online course in medical transcription, but ever since starting DDO, my productivity has admittedly dwindled a bit... =)

My work background and post high school education is in manufacturing. Last april, I was part of a "workforce reduction", and lost my fabrication supervisor position. My former company eliminated the shift I was on. And after some scrambling, I landed a new job with a major newspaper. Career change to say the least. Now I work less hours and get paid more per. All without the risk of loosing fingers or worse.
I'm loving it, But I'm considering some self employment options, because I feel thats the best way for me to make the most money and ensure employment for myself. I always wanted my own tool&die shop!

I'm currently working in a public accounting firm in the taxation department, thinking about trying an internship as an auditor just to see what it's like.
At the university where I'm getting my MACC, they offer 3 credit hours for Becker. So I'll be taking that (they have a schedule and teach 1 section every couple of week so whatever section they teach first is what I'll take first.)

I also took a splash in Entrepreneur: a small company that notifies parents via SMS & email when their kids' soccer/football/baseball/etc practices/games are cancelled.
