Default two weapon defense feat really only adds 1 ac?

I mean if i have two one handed weapons, I will only get one extra ac total bonus for this feat?

Seems pretty expensive for a feat eh?

Exactly, which is why no one bothers taking it.

The only time it's useful is when it's that last point of AC you need to get over some threshold.

and even then oversized twf is superior (in terms of epic content or as prereq for tempest III)

If u have ever fought with 2 weapons before in real life you might find that your brain only really works in 2 diffrent modes while intelligently fighting (as oppossed to flailing)

    - 1 hand attacks while the other defends (vs slower opponent or 1 with a single smaller sized weapon)

    - both hands are defending ( vs a faster opponent or 1 with a larger or heavier weapon)

You would only attack with both vs an unarmed opponent or one who cant properly defend himself. Like after you knocked his weapon out of his hand or injured his arm or he has turned around (which happens more than you would think)

so really you only get 1 weapon to defend with at a time. Of course in a fantasy game with magic and super skilled fighters it may seem that spending a feat for +1 to AC is nothing but you could make the same case vs the dodge feat....they were going for balance. Also in PNP it would make a bigger difference than in DDO.

well, in real life people tend to wear cloth armors, so that extra 1 AC isn't going to save them when an ogre starts charging.

    Well,

1 AC is 1 AC is 1 AC is 1AC...

loads of ppl take Dodge just to get 1 more AC, so like someone posted earlier if you're building a toon which you want to max AC and/or your close to a "boundary", well why not if you can afford it.

    Cheers,

95% of those loads take it because they have to

Yup agreed, Tempest builds of sorts etc. But there are some Intimitanks or even pure fighters with a ton of feats "over" who take it as well. Anyway, I just wanted to point out that there are other feats out there which ppl use even tho its "just" one more AC.

    Cheers,

While Ive never been charged by an Ogre I have been knocked senseless by a guy who outweighed me by almost 200lbs. I guess its about the same, cant seem to hit those guys hard enough for them to care. We had gloves on......just another case of my mouth writing a check my body couldnt cash.....was still fun tho......from the bits and pieces I remember that is. There is a video of it floating around somewhere.

    Sorry for the delayed reply..

But what threshold are you referring to? I am around 75 AC so am I over that threshold?
I picked up empower healing instead of that 1 AC figure that it might be worth healing mid 60ish versus 1 AC

+1 rep for this reply, as a florentine fighter I can attest that this is absolutely true.
