Crash - black screen of death?

I renewed my account yesterday and it's happened a total of six times. It seems random, and I can link it to any one action.
The screen just goes black and there is a soft clicking noise and I have to restart the whole computer. Computer doesn't seem to be overheating as I've felt it hotter before, but I'm not sure.

Is Windows 7 not fully supported or something?
The game ran fine 6 months ago under Vista, same computer.

Are your video drivers fully updated for your video card? Also I beleive DDO is made to run on DirectX 9c. So you might want to try updating your divers and reverting to that version of directx.

I get the same thing but it happens every time right after choosing a server then clicking Play. Launcher exits and it appears the game is launching full-screen but it is just black with the DDO mouse cursor. As soon as I click anywhere the computer completely locks up but unlike you I am on Vista 64bit.

Edit: Problem solved. Step 1 - Uninstall DDO Step 2 - Uninstall Turbine Download Manager Step 3 - problem solved.

Too bad, was actually having fun with this game. I guess I will re-visit in a few months. Hopefully everything is straightened out by then.

It is also made to run in DirectX10 mode as an option. Also, they have said they will be supporting DirectX11 in the future.

Either way it does not matter as DirectX is backwards compatible. If DirectX 9 is need, then 10 and 11 will work (per his post he has DX11), but not the other way around.
